BoED Lion of Talishid wildshaping druid

As per the players handbook and SRD, a druid cannot take the form of an animal (or anything else...) that has a higher hitdice than the druids class level. A druid taking the lion of talisid prestige class, get's to add the PrC levels -2 to his druid class levels for the sake of wildshaping, so Dru 10, LoT 5 counts as a level 13 druid in terms of hit dice for the SIZE the druid can assume.

What about HP? As per the "rules of the game" clarifications

<http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20040525a>

recalculation of HP occurs when changing shape. But that this also mean that a Dru/LoT described above will become an animal with 13 HD, not 15, or is the 13 HD limit only for WHAT creatures the character can wildshape into?

As per the rules of the game link above: "Unlike previous versions of the D&D game, the subject's hit points change according to his new Constitution score."

I interpret this as only affecting the CON modifier (if any), and not the actual HD of the form assumed. Any thoughts?

Hi!

I'd consider the LoT limitation (Druid + (LoT - 2)) only as function of the size limit not the hit point total. It's easier to keep the base hit points and adjust them by the new Con modifier.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards

A wildshaped druid always keeps his number of hit dice, regardless of what he changes into. If a 6th level druid wildshapes into a dire rat he keeps his 6 hit dice and is not reduced to one hit die. Of course his hitpoints are adjusted for any change in constitution.

I would think that the calculated wildshape level affects all parameter that define what kind of creature you are allowed to choose to wildshape into. For example, a 7th level druid / 3rd level Lion of Talishid would count as a 8th level druid (7 + 3 - 2) for wildshaping, which in my book means that he can change into any animal form that has up to 8 hit dice and is of small, medium or large size. However, regardless of the form he chooses, he keeps his 10 hit dice ond only adjusts his hip points for a change in constitution.

Stefan.
