You pass the stone pillar, although somewhat coutiously, and nothing happens as you do. The forest on the other side seems different.. The plants have grown larger. The air seems thicker. The sounds form the birds, insects and other animals sound different, wilder. After about five minutes you notice that there are stones embedded in the forest floor, like the remnants an old road. It leads straight and further into the wilderness. As you follow the trail you see what looks like stone boulders at first, but soon you realise that they are the remains of man made buildings. About 120 feet ahead of you the road opens in a clearing surrounded by a number of these ruins. From here you see that most buildings are diminished to little more than a couple of crumbled walls.

"This must be the shrine and surrounding structures," Aletheia comments, looking to see if any buildings are not just a couple of crumbled walls without breaking formation.

Odno handles his crossbow nevously. "Excuse me if I sound apprehensive, but this air feels like if it could be extended over a slice of bread. Inhaling and exhaling is arduous in this place. And i find strange that he plants have grown all over the place except this clearing - surely this fact has some kind of significance, and our goal, and it's guardians, is at hand."

From here you do not notice any structure that still consists of more then a few crumbled walls. Due to the heavy vergitation, most part of the ruins is not visible from 120' away.

"I am thinking that the wardings may have been to keep the land within verdant and wild, untouched by the outside."

"Indeed. This gives credence to the druidic theory of the wards. Maybe the tales about demons and undead were fabrications inspired by the place's ominous and heavy atmosphere. In any case, there's no other option but to explore the place."

Eanos, quiet and observant through most of the day's journey, frowns as he finally chooses to speak. "I don't use magic myself, but surely a mystic ward isn't something that ... wears out? At least, not if it's still active. The ward may well be druidic, but if it is, the wear there--and decay here--suggest the hands of druids may no longer be involved."

Mordik at this point has switched his rapier for the silvered longsword, which he draws slowly as to not make noise. He whispers, I dunno about that. I do know if I was a 'big bad nasty', I'd ambush here. Plenty of hidin' places. Not a lot of eyeview clear... He keeps an eye at all the places he would hide here, sticking close to Eanos in his marching order.

"Good point," Eanos says, drawing his pair of sais and looking about cautiously.

[sblock=OOC]Rules question: since a sai is a special monk weapon, can I use flurry if I'm throwing them, or does that only apply when I use them in melee? i.e. can I throw them both as a full round action with the standard flurry penalties to the attacks?[/sblock]
