Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

Quarion and Garma, finding nothing, return from their search to find the rope rig set up. Quarion ponder how to get Garma over the chasm, if at all. He decides to wait and see how sturdy the bridge actually is before making the call on his companion.

ooc: i assumed you tied the rope between the stone supports on both sides of the bridge, right? That use rope check 'around eanos' represents an extra rope which you tie to Eanos?

ooc: That's partially right. The party's idea is actually to hold our end of the rope, but I suggested tieing it to something else, like the stone pillar in our side. Perhaps the rest of us didn't understood well that there's indeed a stone pillar in our side, but anyway I think it's safe to think we tie the rope to the pillar if we can.

I also suggested to use another independent rope like a safety harness (one end tied to whoever is crossing, the other one forming a lasso around the rope tied to both pillars) for added security.

ooc: ok, then i got the right picture. Is eanos waiting to be tied up or does he dash across the bridge without the 'rope harness' construction? Also, will you take RA's suggestion to take 20?

ooc: If I can take my time to be absolutely certain of my knot, I will. Yes, the first line is basically the "backup bridge" in case it gives way, which my intentions were for it to be tied on this end and grappled on the other. The other is just a safety line from this side, in case the bridge gives way AND climbing across the grappling hook rope is failed.

On secon' thought - yeah - let's tie this side off too.

OOC: It was my intention that Eanos is wrapping a second rope around his waist as a harness, since Mordik indicated he had two lengths of rope. And, certainly let's take 20 if it's an option. Eanos has 20' worth of Slow Fall plus a smidge of Tumble, but I don't think that's nearly enough to save him if he falls down the gorge. :uhoh:

Ok then, Eanos starts crossing the old rope bridge, holding the extra rope with his hands and with an extra rope tied around his waist. The old bridge really disagrees with him crossing it but it doesn't collapse. When Quarion has moved about halfway across the bridge the birds which you saw sitting on the building suddenly take the sky. A flock of about six black birds, which look like ravens, begin circling the building. After Quarion has taken another few steps they start to descend on him. The birds shoot from the sky straight for the druid with obvious intent...

ooc: roll initiative!
