Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

You also seem ignorant of it's nature and what dark shadow it could cast over the world when in the wrong hands.

"I just want to go on the record as having guessed that it could probably cast a dark shadow over the world if it fell into the wrong hands before we started," Ally laughs softly at the irony with a wink to the others, "So, I guess that's the end of this mission, eh? I don't think anyone here wants to be the reason that a giant planar rift was spewing forth murderous devils...Well I hope not anyway."

Mordik seems relaxed as the eagle-man seems not likely to attack them, but still stressed that there still appears to be no exits. He lets out a grunt of frustration at the explanation however, Bah! I dunna want to push the world into darkness and I dunna want to renege on a deal. With a pointed look to the Guardian Mordik asks, Where's the exit to this room? I think me allies and I need to talk in private.

"Quite an interesting philosophy you have, Mordik my friend. I, for one, am willing to follow your example. Those who have scruples about taking the money and potentially not completing the job based on what we learn and discuss later may want to consider for a moment before accepting."
;))

"Agreed. Good Guardian, we have not taken the amulet, so clearly we can leave, right?"

(OOC: Give Ally a Sense Motive on the Guardian if you would, B4cchus. If what I suspect is true, Ally shan't beat it anyway, but might as well ;))

ooc: RA: righto.

you sense no untruthfullness in the guardian's words. It means and believes everyword it speaks.
[/sblock]

"I will not let you leave untill you vow not to take the amulet. I must be sure you are not merely retreating to bolster yourself for attack or bring reinforcements."

Mordik's eyes narrow, Vowing ain't gonna change nuthin. If we was gonna unleash hell, we'd be evil and we'd lie. Holding us against our will - that can change some minds righ' here and now.

"It is not my wish to imprison you but you must understand what is at stake. I trust you will not lie if you vow not to take the amulet. More than just your words will hold you to that vow."

Mordik thinks, I thought he was puttin a lot of faith in a vow. Enchantment...

I vow to not take the amulet and unleash hell with it - or give it to someone who I believe will.

"I don't like this kind of thing on principle. My goddess values freedom to choose. Can you not trust that we will not do evil? Frankly, we are at full combat potential right now, so if we were going to attack, we would have done so. I have told you the truth, and you can trust that it shall not be by my hands that the evil of the devils is increased upon our world."

Eanos, human monk

Rystil Arden said:
"Eanos is a Monk and can get a bit narrowly letter-of-the-law at times. I'd like to hope that if this amulet unleashes a dark evil to consume the world, he would agree with us not to hand it over, but since he already did make a verbal contract with the Lord Graven guy, I'm not too sure."

Eanos' lips thin as the cleric begins analyzing the party, but he says nothing, trying to keep his attention on the exchange.

B4cchus said:
"The first victory that was accieved through the power of the amulet was to contain them. You undoubtly noticed the ancient barrier which is powered by the amulet. The barrier prevents any evil from entering of leaving this region."

"We've encountered quite a few barriers, truth to tell," the monk says. "If there's something meant to keep evil at bay in the area of land above, however, it's clearly failed, as the wildlife is itself possessed. If you mean the altar than bars the way down, that's guarded by a devil; one wonders how pure this temple is when its first guardian is a being of evil. And if you mean this door that's disappeared--" he nods back to where the door once was "The key's lying out in the open."

Eanos crosses his arms. "I'm afraid you're the only thing I've seen thus far that appears to serve as strong protection for this amulet. If your other location is this 'secure,' one wonders if our employer hasn't already secured the other half of the amulet.

"For that matter, have you any idea that the other half of the amulet is safe?"

Eanos raises an eyebrow. "I'm a man of my word, but if what this creature says is true, it strikes me our employer has dealt with us in bad faith. If I'm convinced of that, I find it not unreasonable to consider our contract voided for it."

[sblock=OOC]Did Eanos' +11 Sense Motive check give him any insights into the critter / feeling of if it's being truthful?[/sblock]

"Oh, it's been so long, but didn't Lord Graven say that he already had the other half of it?"

'He also said that this half was guarded by a nefarious and evil creature that would lie its ass off to keep the amulet from leaving here, so obviously one of the two of them is lying anyway...'
