Broken and balanced

I wasn't finding them believable. I was just finding them extremely high. You must be a sucker for punishment to run that many games at once :)

I hear that. I have to take my hat off to anyone who runs more than one session a week, let alone multiple different campaigns. I know people do it, I'm overwhelmed trying to keep up with my one campaign session every two weeks. Especially with the extra preparation that seems necessary with 3E so you don't get caught out by sharp eyed players...:)

Not necessarily. Suppose that the monster has a +7/+2 attack modifier. The first attack hits AC 20 on a 13 or better, or 8 times out of 20, and it hits AC 22 only 6 times out of 20. 25% fewer hits from that +2 to AC. Gets even better for the second attack - goes from hitting 3 times out of 20 to hitting 1 time out of 20 (67% fewer hits).

When the foe's attack bonus is low enough that he isn't hitting on a 2, and high enough that he doesn't need a 20, you really do want every bonus to AC that you can get. The absolute value of the AC by itself tells you nothing.

You have a point and I was never saying that it wasn't helpful, only that in overall %wise it is a minute change. Does it mean someone is going to miss? yeah, but it is still a minute change. It increases the miss chance 25% for that one range of monsters with a +7/+2. That is hardly most monster out there. I was pointing out that I would have no problem justifying it if my players wanted to gain that +1/+2 for a skill like that.

I could do it in college with no problems, see my lack of social life as reason. Now that I have a real job and a social life it is hard running two campaigns and playing in a third every week, but it is rewarding. I am thinking bout dropping one of them back to every other week though, just so I can spend more time on side projects. What also helps me is the fact that I am very choosy about my players so that I have sharp eyed ones, but they aren't looking to exploit a weekness but instead help me fix it. Like I mentioned, I have been very lucky. It is great having groups that consist mainly of other st/gm/dms who genuinely wnat to create a good story and have fun. I am of the school that I really don't care if you fudge that 16 to a 17 to hit the monster, as long as you expect the same from me. I understand that this game is about having fun and making a good story and a hit is a better story sometimes than a near miss, either way. I am very strict in other wyas, however, like with death, I can't remember the last game I ran where raise dead was something easily found. I give big rewards and uber items, but if you take on something too much bigger and die...you're dead. I always hated raise dead, because you rarely find it in actual literature. I like the concept of some high level clerics having access to it for the very rich or very powerful, but that a bunch of freelance adventurers can just walk into a city with a dead body and have it raised.... I don't know.

P.S. add in that many of my games over the years are of different systems and it becomes even more work;P I love new systems and sometimes am scared by d20 because of just how easy it is to tweek. It is hard to find people around here localy that still want to play stuff like nephilim, Hong Kong Action Theatre, Giant Bugs from Outer Space, Ironclaw and the like.
