Buffy: End in Sight?

Which is all the more reason SMG is an airhead, because a Buffy movie would prolly make as much if not more than any of the POS ones she's done so far.
Maybe she has accepted the fact that she has been playing that role for a long time and it is time for her to move on.

Unfortunately, she, like many cult figures in the genre entertainment, will forever be typecast. After all, you don't see Walter Koenig acting on the big and small screens these days.

I think it has nothing to do with the timeslot. I think that Firefly will be too sci-fi (even though Joss has said repeatedly it isn't really sci-fi, it's a western in space) for the mainstream audience to except. Of course, I'm more bitter for being burned by the loss of Crusade and Legend of the Rangers, the loss of Invisible Man, the direction Andromeda is taking, and on, and on, and on...
Well, we'll see if Firefly can take off with TV viewers of the new millenium. It is possible that it is too hardcore, moreso than RHW's version of Andromeda or Star Trek.

On Buffy:
I think a very interesting eighth season would be to see how the gang does without Buffy/SMG. Quite honestly I think she's the weakest link in the show, next to Dawn/MT. I don't really see it happening though.
Yeah, but you can't really call a show Buffy without the titled character. You can spin a new series off of the show like they did with Angel. Although I prefer Alyson Hannigen ("Willow") to go into a movie career after the successes of American Pie movies.

That's because she can do nude scenes in movies. :p

(Sorry, I couldn't resist :))

Though he did play one of the best villains ever in a sci-fi series. Too bad Crusade was killed before there was a Bester episode - I think one of episodes 14-16 would be featuring him.

The great thing was that Bester wasn't completely a villain. He was one of the best characters I have even seen and/or read about.

I read the scripts of the last two eps of Crusade to be produced when they were up on the web. Neither featured Bester. I'm not completely sure it would even be possible, I'd have to check my dates. I know the episode with the tester for the telepaths was supposed have Lyta in it, but unfortunately Patricia's schedule didn't work out.

If you like Bester, read the Psi Corps trilogy, it's great.

According to various posts by JMS, episode 15 ("Value Judgments") would have featured Bester, with a script by Fiona Avery (who also did The Well of Forever and Patterns of the Soul). Fiona did sell the scripts to over the web via www.bookface.com, but I don't know if they're still being sold.

As for the Psicorps trilogy, I'm considering getting that as well as the Shadowmage trilogy and maybe the Centauri trilogy.

They're all excellent, but the Centauri trilogy is by far the best. Don't call it a "maybe," call it a "must-buy." Before the other two, even.

And that's coming from a huge Bester fan.

True. His portrayal of Psi-Cop Alfred Bester on B5 has forever typecast him as a cold, ruthless, yet oddly sympathetic villain. I can't see him in any other role.
