Building a Dagger Fighter

Something to consider; with thrown weapons, you can take both rapid shot and the TWF chain of feats for a very large number of attacks. Combine it with rogue for sneak attack damage and you'll be inflicting a lot of hurt.

Someone got the link to the Living Greyhawk swashbuckler? It was posted here on the board...

Felon: Deadly Defense is nice, certainly, but I used it with two chars now and had a real hard time to hit... With daggers it's not so interesting, but next time my TWF kukri dude will start with Telling Blow and take Deadly Defense later. The penalty for fighting with two weapons plus fighting defensively is pretty steep if you need to cause a lot of damage very fast.

Yeah, that's a real concern. I'm looking for ways to compensate, like through the tiefling and halfling's Dex bonus (w/Weapon Finesse) and the latter's size bonus. Another reason to flank, I suppose.

That sums up the philosophy behind the Whisperknife.

One of the campaigns I just finished Dm'ing had a dagger thrower in it. He was mainly fighter for all the fighter feats and some levels of rogue for sneak attack and evasion. Most of his damage came from his weapon spec and his high strength along with his specialized weapons. Basically he had +1 returning wounding daggers, one for each attack. He had a magic item that was a bandoleer of infinite daggers
I don't suppose this bandolier was an "official" magic item? I've been looking for something like that.

I can't begin to tell you how P.O'ed I was by that Gauntlet of Infinite Blades in the Magic Item Compendium. I just know it was originally designed for a knife-thrower character, then some idiot editor "fixed" it by having it only produce a dagger upon activation. I'm sure a swift mental action might seem like a miniscule amount of effort, but a knife-thrower needs a knife more than once per round.

Yeah, that gauntlet sucks. Except for the once per day bane thing :D

Felon: Tempest is the best way to get a good to hit with two weapons... but you already want too many classes, right ;)?

Did someone mention halflings racial paragon levels already? Plus WS, RWM?

If you use combat expertise and take a -2 instead of fighting defensivly for a -4 you have a better chance of hitting and gettting that d6 out of the feat.

Yupp, as someone else said above, it's a Power Attack for -2 to his for 3.5 more damage... with TWF you're at -4 to hit. The good news: You don't need to take ITWF, the secondary iterative attacks won't hit anyways.

Swashbuckler alternative PHB2 class feature to get a shield bonus looks nice for this char.
