There are cheaper places here in Brisbane than MilSims. Plus they slug you for postage.

Having worked in Brisbane game/comic retail myself, and knowing the owners of both Ace and Daily Planet, I don't think this is 'price gouging'. The issue is that the two stores order their stocks from different distributors, with different prices and discount schemes.

I'm not sure who Ace is getting their Wizards stock from, but whoever it is, they seem to be supplying it at a much cheaper price than Planet's distributor. This allows them to sell it at what is a fantastically low price.

(Ace also have lower rent and overheads than Planet, I would imagine.)

None of this matters to the customer, of course, and nor should it. I'm sympathetic to Planet, but I buy 90% of my gaming stuff at Ace. But let's not ascribe the problem to malice when basic business issues are a more likely cause.

Milsims* charges 4.40 postage, even when i bought a carton of GoL miniatures i think that is a great price

You know, if someone three blocks from you is selling stuff for 1/2 to 2/3 of the price, and you aren't competing, you don't deserve sympathy. Either you're gouging, or you don't respect your customers enough to look for the better deal.

Either way, Planet get no sympathy or business from me -- they want either, they need to make an effort

I have not heard of Fast Break. Are they where the Hit Point used to be?

Yes, they are.

I have had some bad experiences with MilSims. No thanks.

I've never had any problems with Mil Sims (and I've bought a lot of stuff from them). They generally have pretty good prices, these days, and their postage rates are excellent. Ace and Fast Break are the first two local stores that I have seen who are competitive (or even superior) to them on pricing.

Like I said, the bottom line for the customer is the price (and the service), and the reasons behind that price don't (and shouldn't) matter. I'm sympathetic because I used to work in that same business myself - but I still buy most of my stuff at Ace, nonetheless.

could someone please tell me where the shops talked about are located. I know where ace and daily planet are, but where is fastbreak/hit point?

G'day all,

I'd like to know why Capellan think's that there are better alternatives to Amazon online? For example I've compared prices for D20Future at Amazon, FRPGames, Nobleknight and RPGShop and have found that Amazon is $6-7 cheaper, similiarly Races of Stone is $3-4 cheaper at Amazon. I normally order from Amazon about once a month and have had no problems. Postage seems more than reasonable as well, a recent order from RPGShop cost me about $40 in postage, Amazon normally averages around $30 for the equivalent size order. I just want to make sure I'm using the cheapest, most effective service available.

I have ordered from MilSims in the past and on one occassion they didn't ship me my full order and it took them a couple of weeks to sort it out, while that experience hasn't totally put my off buying from them again it has made me investigate other options first.

Fastbreak is in Nundah Village, about five minutes walk from Nundah train station. They should be in the phone book if you want the full address.

As for gamers in Brisbane that post on enworld - heck, they aren't that hard to find, are they?
