Bypassing my own SR?

"A creature can voluntarily lower its spell resistance. Doing so is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Once a creature lowers its resistance, it remains down until the creature’s next turn. At the beginning of the creature’s next turn, the creature’s spell resistance automatically returns unless the creature intentionally keeps it down (also a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity)."

Is there a magic-item that I could attune to my character and then give to another character that would allow the second character to automatically bypass my SR?

I am running an undead PC with SR and I would like to let the Cleric cast Inflict spells on me without having to lower my SR for a whole round.

Rather than create a rather cool new class of magic items that PCs and NPCs alike might want to research and attune for use against each other, it would be easier to make a +n item that gives a bonus to penetrating SR and give a 50% discount if it only works against one unique creature. Of course, the NPCs can make such an item, too... :]

The value of Spell Penetration like items was controversial last time it came up. My personal opinion is it pricewise it fits reasonably at n*n*1000 gp -- an attractive item, but not usually better than a stat item.

There isn't a magic item in the Core books(or anything that I know of, actually) that allows you to do that. Frankly, I wouldn't allow it unless it was very very expensive. Its really one of the few drawbacks to SR, and I wouldn't make it easy to just get rid of.

It's a +10 to caster level checks to beat SR against 1 target.

Or better yet, have the other character take the Arcane Mastery feat so that he can take 10 on his caster level checks (assuming rolling a 10 is enough to beat your SR).

I was just thinking the same thing. Arcane Mastery would be a win-win for you. Either Taking 10 is good enough to crack your SR, or better still it is not good enough to beat SR. Then he can lob area effect spells on top of you and never harm you.

Not sure if the spellcasters in the party will be so excited, though.

Well, smetzger, assuming that this relates to your death knight PC in the other thread, the cleric should be 22nd level, right? Whereas your SR is probably only 28 (11 + char level). That means that if he has Greater Spell Penetration (a worthwhile investment for any cleric), he'll only blow his check on a 1 or 2. That's pretty good odds. Arcane Mastery is certainly a good option as well, of course!

Does Arcane Mastery allow you to ignore the "under pressure" clause of 'Taking 10'?

IIRC it allows you to take 10 on Caster Level checks but doesn't state that it allows Taking 10 under pressure (like Skill Mastery).

Don't have the book here.
