Can anyone remember What Enemies the Hulk had in his comics ?

Hello All,

I am looking forward to the new Hulk movie and have seen several trailers, which all look good, but I was concerned with the fact that they all show the Hulk fighting against the US Military. Now I know that this was the flavor of the original comics way back in the 60's etc...but I am sure that I read later comics that showed the Hulk fighting big baddies and other super enemy types etc...not just the US Military, which while exciting and entertaining, does not really challenge the Hulk to his fullest extent. I was having a discussion with my friends last night and could not for the life of me remember the Hulks Classic Enemies. Please let me know who or what they were so I can redeem myself in the eyes of my mis-trusting and cynical friends. Cheers All. :D

Enemies of the Hulk

I always thought the Hulks emeies were a bit too hookey - thake The Leader or the Bi-Beast or MODOK for instance - and probably wouldn't make good movie villains.

Maestro could work and apparently Brian Banner is in the movie.

Wendigo might work too...

Thanks for the replys and the links, it's all comeing back to me now. Yeah I think I remember reading about the Abomination fighting the Hulk. Didn't Thor take on the Hulk in a comic once ? What other super Heros have fought the Hulk ? Interesting to wonder about the outcome of some super heros vs the Hulk I think.....cheers all :)

The only classic Hulk villain I can see working on the big screen is
the abomination or maybe some of the other non-recurring Gamma
monsters that have been in the comics through the decades. But
even then, they couldn't support a movie. We'd need an smart
adversary, so there we'd throw out one of the dozen different
conspiracy guys/billionair/foreign goverment that's trying to get
their hands on the secret of what makes the Hulk tick.

Pretty much every hero in the 616 Marvelverse has at some point
fought the Hulk. It's a kind of a Rite of Passage in the MU.

Doesn't anyone remember the Leader? The only person that gamma radiation made smart instead of brawny?

He could work if you want something other than a slugfest.

As for which Marvel heroes have fought the Hulk, pick pretty much any one of them.
Thing, Iron Man, Avengers, etc.
One time or another everyone has gotten in the way of one of his rampages.

There was one in which trhe Avengers were looking into adding Spidey to their tem and they had him do a mission that involved the Hulk. I'm pretty sure it was the Green Hulk, but I'm not sure if they fought much.

Oh yeah, I remember that one. It was Spidey's first encounter with both the Avengers and the Hulk. The Avengers were still primarily the founding members at that time, plus Cap and minus Hulk, and someone nominated Spidey for membership. They called in Daredevil, who gave Spidey a strong recommendation.

So then they contacted Spidey, told him they thought he'd make a good Avenger, and then sent him to find the Hulk, as a test. Spidey leaves before Cap can tell him that they want to help the Hulk. Spidey finds the Hulk, and holds his own, when the Hulk transforms back into Banner. When Spidey learns the Hulk is not just a mindless monster, he can't bring himself to turn Banner over to the Avengers (not realizing that they wanted to help him), and so Spidey tells them that he couldn't even find the Hulk. Then he goes home and gets all angsty because he could have been a famous and well-paid super-hero, but he blew it.

Of course, much much later, Spidey joined the Avengers for a while, but later leaves (I don't remember why).
