[sblock=Map at end of last round]
The big horse-and-rider token is now the horse, the small one is the dismounted hobgoblin. (Thought you'd force me to make another token, huh?)
[/sblock]
The hobgoblin shows his battle experience by curling himself into a ball as he finds himself flying through the air. He lands on his back, rolls to his feet in one swift motion, and surveys the changed battlefield:
The swarm of drakes has scattered around Blade, with the more venturesome nipping towards his shield of light and then shying away as it sparkles. Guessing that it could cause them serious damage, the hobgoblin whistles again and swings his arm in a half circle. On cue the drakes veer away from Blade and converge on Tristan instead.
The mass of tiny drakes leaps on his legs, biting and clawing, and begin to climb up his cloak. Their teeth do little damage but the mass of them overwhelms him and, as he struggles to free himself from the grasping claws, he sinks to his knees. Instantly the needlefangs begin leaping into the air to bite at his face. Tristan pulls his cloak around himself to shield his eyes, and drakes tumble to the ground, hissing in disappointment.
As Tristan is distracted, the Spitting Drake backpedals a few steps to get out of his weapon range. He pulls the cloak off of his head just in time to see a hissing glob of phlegm flying straight for his eyes! He ducks and the acid sears the top of his head. A rivulet courses towards his eyes, burning his brow - he claws it away, and once again opens his eyes just in time to see an attack heading straight towards him. At the last instant, he throws himself out of the way of the Guard Drake's charge.
Meanwhile, the mercenary has turned his attention to Tonk. Seeing that he has him pinned against the side of his horse, he backs up a few steps to give himself room to get momentum, and charges! His spear opens a bloody gash in Tonk's side. His horse rears up, flailing its hooves wildly and rolling its eyes in pain; the hobgoblin jabs again with his spear, trying to force Tonk into the lashing hooves, but the horse is too hurt to obey his commands and it thuds back to earth without striking.
[sblock=Status]
Note: I got the Light Warhorse's basic attack wrong: his kick should only be +4 vs AC, 1d6+4 damage. I've updated the post with the stats.
Mikara's attack bloodied the horse.
Technically Dextyr's attack doesn't say anything about knocking the hobgoblin prone, but since he got blown right off his horse I think it makes sense. I'll give him an Acrobatics check to land on his feet:
Acrobatics (1d20+3=23). A critical success, right where it has no extra effect. Great timing.
Blade rolled an attack on himself from the swarm, which wasn't necessary since he wasn't next to it when he started. (Dextyr was the person who went before him in the official order, so he was able to interfere.) Also, he can't use Avenging Echo on it from W12, since it's a melee attack and it's at U12. I'll say that Dextyr slid the swarm to V12 instead. (I was going to make Dextyr slide Blade one square farther, so that he could shift to V11, but then he would be flanked by the swarm and the guard drake, which would give them a total of +4 to hit him this round - suicidally bad positioning, even with Avenging Echo.) So with that change, his attack bloodies the Needlefang Drake Swarm.
The Needlefang Drake Swarm moves to T12, taking at OA from Blade:
OA vs Needlefang Drake Swarm (1d20+2=14, 1d20+2=18, 1d12=2) Hit for 1 damage (due to half damage from melee). As a minor action it attacks Tristan with Pull Down:
Pull Down on Tristan (vs Fort, w/+2 from flanking) (1d20+7+2=13). Just barely hits his Fort: he is prone. They attack again with Swarm of Teeth:
Swarm of Teeth on Tristan (w/+2 from flanking) (1d20+8+2=14, 2d10+4=17). Miss.
The Spitting Drake shifts to Q9 and spits at Tristan:
Caustic Spit on Tristan (vs Reflex) (1d20+8=16, 1d10+4=7) Hit for 7.
The Guard Drake charges to T10 and bites at Tristan:
Bite at Tristan (w/+2 CA due to prone, +1 charge) (1d20+8=10, 1d10+9=19) Miss.
The Hobgoblin Subcommander's Tactical Deployment recharges:
Tactical Deployment recharge (1d6=5). It back up one step to Z7 with a move action, then charges to Z9 and attacks Tonk:
Spear at Tonk (w/+2 from flanking, +1 from charge) (1d20+10+2+1=16, 1d8+5=6). See, this is why every +1 counts. Hit for 6, bloodying him, and activating Lead from the Front: all the Hobgoblin's allies get +2 to attack and damage against Tonk until the end of the Hobgoblin's next turn.
The horse takes 5 damage. It kicks at Tonk:
Kick at Tonk (w/+2 hit from flanking, +2 hit and damage from Lead from the Rear) (1d20+5+2+2=10, 1d6+4+2=7) Miss! Now I don't want to hear any more complaints about low rolls, ok? It also flubs its saving throw:
Save vs Ongoing Damage and Slow (1d20=7)
Your turn again. Tristan will take an attack from the drakes on his turn, and only Mikara and Tonk can interfere. (By the same token, Lead from the Rear will run out before the warhorse's turn next round, even if the enemies reorder their attacks.)
