Can Dextyr Keep All These Strikers Alive? (DM: JoeNotCharles, Ozymandias79 Judging)

As Blades blast drops the Hobgoblin Dextyr looks over and gives an apreciative nod.

"Alright now lets dispatch that swarm of little nasties before it overwhels Tristan" Dextyr comments to Tonk, and readies himself for the creatures next moves.

Blade, you can use the original version of RRoT. However, I can't remember what that is anymore! The action you posted seems to fit the nerfed version - do you want to change to the un-nerfed, and if so, what effect would that have?

The drakes scatter from Blade's assault and As Tristan clambers to his feet, swarm at him again. They pull him back to the ground but again he is able to ward off their teeth. He is not able to ward off their larger cousin, who leans forward to gnaw at him while he's down. The Guard Drake's jaws savage him, shredding both cloak and flesh. The last thing Tristan sees is the Spitting Drake hopping forward to unleash another barrage at him, then the acid barrage strikes his wounded flash and he blacks out in agony. The Spitting Drake hisses in what sounds like triumph, if you can ascribe human emotions to the animal, and vanishes into the trees.

The horse, maddened in its pain, lashes its hooves at the nearest creature, striking Dextyr solidly in the shoulder.

I was going to have the Needlefang Drakes flee with their commander dead and being so badly injured, but then I noticed they're immune to fear. Sorry!

The Drake Swarm attacks Tristan with Pull Down (minor action) and follow up with Swarm of Teeth. Pull Down (vs Fort); Swarm of Teeth; damage; extra damage if prone (1d20+7=18, 1d20+8=10, 1d10+4=12, 1d10=8) Pull Down hits, knocking him prone; Swarm of Teeth misses.

The Guard Drake attacks Tristan: Bite vs Tristan (w/+2 for combat advantage) (1d20+6+2=17, 1d10+9=18) Hit for 18 damage! Tristan is bloodied.

The Spitting Drake attacks Tristan with Caustic Spit: Caustic Spit vs Tristan (vs Reflex, w/-2 for prone) (1d20+8-2=18, 1d10+4=8). Hit for 8 damage: Tristan is dying. It moves to N11.

The horse takes 5 ongoing damage. Since it's slowed, it can't trample, so it attacks Dextyr: Kick vs Dextyr (1d20+5=18, 1d6+4=7) Hit for 7. Dextyr is bloodied. It makes its saving throw: Save vs ongoing damage and slow (1d20=18)

Your turn again. Remember that, whatever order you post, only Tonk and Mikara can affect Tristan's start-of-turn actions, which means the Needlefang Drakes will attack him again and he'll have to roll a death save even if one of the others kills them or heals him.

Needlefang Drake Swarm (6/38)
Guard Drake (43/48)
Spitting Drake (38/38)
Hobgoblin Subcommander (-9/48)
Light Warhorse (8/38)

Tonk (18/24 hp + 5 thp, +1 to Intimidate, allies get +1 to Stealth against enemies who can see him, but -1 Perception while within 10 squares and LOS)
Mikara (24/24 hp, Hunter's Quarry on Guard Drake)
Tristan (-5/28 hp, Oath of Enmity on Spitting Drake, dying)
Dextyr (13/28 hp)
Blade (20/29 hp + 4 thp, Oath of Enmity on Needlefang Drake Swarm, the first time any enemy hits or misses Blade before EONT it takes 4 radiant damage)

The difference is a net change of 4 points (or 2 after reductions) so I'm going to just use the current version. Easier to track for everyone. It makes my attack an auto-crit (Making my 1d12+4 into 16 rather than the 12 damage I got).

[sblock=Tactics]
If you want, Blade might be able to use Heal on Tristan to allow him to use his second wind (DC 10 I have +4 so I Should be able to make it happen), but someone's gotta kill that swarm first.

[sblock=OOC]
Well I agree that we need to take out that swarm ASAP.
IF Tonk and Mikara act "first" and can take out the swam then we can focus fire on the other drakes and drop them fast.

Dex has his daily left, which until end of the encounter, whenever an ally hits the target, that ally regains 4 hit points (effect wether I hit or miss)
That there is "free healing" (ie no surges spent), so I am tempted to throw that against the guard drake and then Tonk and Tristan can get some hit points back while beating on it.

Crud! I just posted for Tonk, and the server ate it.

---

Here's a shortened version...
Tonk moves to U11. He attacks with Disheartening Strike rolls a 25 to hit and inflicts 19 points of damage (11 for the mace (1d8+8), 7 for Furious Assault, 1 for two hands).

(I've got to hit the road for a weekend trip. Otherwise, I would have rewritten the entire post. You can check Invisible Castle for the pertinent rolls. Be back in a couple of days.)

[sblock=OOC]Joe, I notice that you're rolling 1d10+9 for the guard drake's damage, but you have 1d10+6 in the monster stats you posted at the beginning of the fight. Just thought you'd like to know ;)

Back to the situation at hand, looks like Tonk's attack should kill the swarm.

Now then, I think it'd be better for Dex to use a majestic word on Tristan rather than Blade using a standard for Heal. More efficient use of actions and surges, especially since Dex still has both majestic words available.

If I could just get next to that spitting drake and have time to attack ...[/sblock]

Ctrl-A; Ctrl-C before hitting the submit button. It's gotten me out of a lot of jams. You loose your links, but at least you keep the text. [/sblock]

Mikara emerges from the forest, gasping in terror.

"Tristan!"

[sblock=Actions]
Move: to W7
Minor: HQ the Guard Drake
Standard: Nimble Strike
Target: Guard Drake
Attack: 1d20+7=10! Gah!
Damage: Not likely any....:erm:
Effect: Shift to V8

She lets fly with her bow, but the the image of his mangled, unconscious body, lying under a writhing swarm of scales and blood has already put her so out of sorts that the shaft flies afowl of its target.

She positions herself out in the road to draw the drake's attention.

"Back off from him you repulsive reptiles!"

[sblock=OOC]
Dextyr, do you think you can handle the horse or should I oath that one and try to finish it off this turn? Else, I'll probably go after the guard drake, focus fire it down.
