Can Dextyr Keep All These Strikers Alive? (DM: JoeNotCharles, Ozymandias79 Judging)

[SBLOCK=OOC]
Well a night of rest would give us back our dailys, which I know that I have spent and I belive that Tonk has as well. We don't get back any healing surges, which we will use a whole bunch during either a short or long rest.
So I guess the question is do you think we need to get back our daily powers before we go tackle the lawyers?

[sblock=OOC]I think it's also worth noting that we could take an extended rest without expending surges beforehand to heal to full without spending any surges - that still works, right Joe?

Anyway, I could be convinced either way - to rest the night or to go after the lawyers. I've still got my daily, but I believe Blade is the only other person in the party who still has their daily. I'm guessing we will want to get our dailies back eventually, whether we do it now or later.

Lastly - that Dino comic is either a huge, funny coincidence, or it is about Tonk ;)[/sblock]

[sblock=Extended Rest]
Unless I've been playing wrong, an extended rest gives you back all your daily powers and healing surges, and resets your AP to 1.

I don't see the point in taking an extended rest without spending healing surges first - it just means you won't be fully healed when you get attacked in the night.

I mean if. IF you get attacked in the night.

EDIT: why does the button on this say "Vote No" instead of "Show"?

[sblock=OOC]The PHB says you regain all of your hp as well as your surges at the end of an extended rest (p 263).

The distinction is probably moot most of the time because unless you're in a situation like ours there's really no disadvantage to spending surges to get to full hp before your extended rest.

I was thinking that if we could take a rest without getting attacked, we could heal to full without spending any surges.
Though I suppose that's a vain hope, at least in this adventure ;)[/sblock]

Well I didn't want to be the one to point this out, but unless you have changed your mind joe, I belive this might come into consideration...

In the morning you awake refreshed and... sore. You feel as if you've been pummeled all over, instead of only with a few sharp jabs. Although you hurt where you were punched, too. If anything, it hurts worse than it did last night.

Now that you think of it, you recall that Lauto frowns on "frivolous" violence (violence not intended to cause death), and you've heard that wounds suffered in His holy places are notoriously slow to heal.

Surprise! Dextyr's gonna have his hands full...

Wounds suffered in the Hanged Man have healed just fine, so by my count, Dextyr is down 12, Tonk is down 10, Blade is down 4, Tristan is down 19 (!) and Mikara is down 10.

Healing powers and items will still work fine, you just don't get the benefit of an extended rest: every morning when you wake up from now until the completion of your mission, you'll regain powers but not hp or healing surges.

Oh, I should mention, the difficulty level for this adventure is "UNFAIR".
[/sblock]

As you agreed, you meet again in the morning, worrying over your aching wounds and wondering,

Can Dextyr Keep All These Strikers Alive?

Now the question I have for Joe is this; Have we completed our mission? As you stated, until the completion of our mission we will NOT regain hit points or healing surges. Our mission was to reclaim Applethorpes "life", which I guess we have but I am not sure if taking an extended rest will reap full results or not (that's up to Joe)

[sblock=OOC]Yeah, DMDan brought up what I was thinking of. Namely, that you said we wouldn't get surges back from an extended rest. I was thinking that we could do an extended rest to regain hp without spending surges, in order to conserve them.

However, looking at the post where you described our little curse, you did say that an extended rest wouldn't give us hp back either, so that plan doesn't really make sense now. Plus there's what DMDan asked - are we still under the curse?[/sblock]

So, I'm just waiting for you guys to decide 100% if you're camping for the night or not.

I think Mikara is set on camping for the night. She's going to need the bear trap back. How good she feels about it will depend on the History and Nature checks she rolled earlier;).

As for healing, I'm OK either way.

If we don't get HP back, might as well try one more encounter as Tristan and I can try and use our dailies, then rest. More efficient use of resources that way.

[sblock=And don't forget...]...Mikara's not interested in the HP recovery when we rest. It's the rewarding of the XP.

Me, I'm all for going and fighting something else. Preferably with a powerful magical mace that's not on anyone else's wishlist. And made from a femur, because that's just cool.[/sblock]
