Can Dextyr Keep All These Strikers Alive? (DM: JoeNotCharles, Ozymandias79 Judging)

[sblock=OOC]
Oh, yeah, I completely forgot about that. You've completed your mission - Marglespat is dead. I gave you quest XP for it and everything. The rest of this is just trying to survive.

The only reason I said "until you've completed your mission" was to stop you from going and resting for the night before even starting out.

[sblock=OOC]One thing I think the testoserone junkies need to remember is that it's Dextyr's dailies that may be what keeps the rest of us alive. He'll need all the healing surges, hit points, and daily powers he can get.

I vote for an extended rest, if...

I can just rememeber a secret place in the forest where we can be safe.

History=1d20+1=17
Nature=1d20+5=19

That ought to be good for something.

Ok, so that's clear votes to rest from Mikara and Tonk, and the rest seem to be either leaning towards it or undecided. No clear votes to keep going. So I guess you're resting.

I'll need you to decide which of the following two places you're choosing, and your watch schedule.
[/sblock]

You basically have two choices of where to sleep: right here behind the big rock is a pretty good place: if you're attacked in the night, you can put your back to it; your sentry could actually climb the rock and get a great view of the road; and most attackers would probably be coming along the road so you'd get lots of warning. The danger is that if somebody does manage to sneak up on you through the woods, they'd be right on top of you. And if a large enough force attacks, they could block all your escape routes.

The alternative is a clearing that Mikara knows to the south of the road. It's not as defensible, but it's open enough that you would get some warning before anyone coming out of the woods would be on you, and it would be hard to completely surround you. The underbrush around it is very thick so it would be hard for anyone except a skilled woodsman to sneak up without making noise, and because you're not near the road, you'd be harder to find. The drawback is that although it's harder to sneak up on than a random place in the woods, it would still be easier to be surprised than here.

My suggestion is that we choose the rock.

Regardless of where we set up, we're going to establish a decoy camp, with a fire, using some of the bodies covered in blankets or brush to appear as people. In the trees around both camps, Tonk is going to string ropes about ankle height in the darker areas, so it will trip unwary ambushers. Also, he's going to use some of the string and odds-n-ends in his pack to set up triplines to noisemakers (like metal clattering on metal). We could also cut some pungi sticks and dig small pits, then cover them with brush.

[sblock=OOC]Also, if we're going to spend this much time resting, we might as well take 2 or 3 short rests first to let Dex work his magic to greatest effect to heal us back up. Right guys?[/sblock]
