Can I put an orb on a staff?

Joining two, the golden thorn? Last to invoke the platinum horn?

This reminds me so much of Shadowgate. And it'd be how I'd do the use two implements thing - wizards often have cool glowing orb things on the end of their fantasy staffs!

Ah the memories of old mac games. At least they just released Return to Dark Castle, now with DnD style power progression :) OMG old games are becoming like 4E DnD!

I'd even let the player be wielding both a staff and an orb with the understanding that if his other hand is full he can't make the necessary gestures to activate his orb. I mean, as long as he's got one item per hand slot it doesn't bother me if it's not actually in his hand, just like an ioun stone can occupy the head slot without touching the head.

Guys, the point isn't wielding a staff+orb combo.

The point is wielding a staff in one hand, that has an orb grafted on the tip... and a longsword in the other.

I actually thought he meant using an Orb with a Quarterstaff, as in an implement and a two-handed weapon... which wizards normally cannot do. I just didn't know the answer, so I didn't give one to that.

I had that thought too, like could I stick a blade on a Wizard Staff and call it a Scythe.

I would say that to use the orb power the wizard's hand has to be touching the orb, not going "through" the staff to the wizard's hand.

Thus instead of 2 one-handed implements you would have 1 two-handed implement. I guess it would speed up "putting away one implement and drawing another" though.

I mean, you could get silly with this and put a wand somewhere on the staff too, or multiple orbs with different powers, etc.

A Staff is a two handed implement. While wielding the Staff, you cannot wield any other implements. If you want to put a glowy orb at the end of your Staff, knock yourself out. That's within the fluff of a Wizard's Staff. If you want to put an Orb on the end of your Staff, too bad.

They specifically call out that 2 holy symbols can cancel so neither work. I dunno if that means 2 different god's symbols or trying to wear 2 magic ones to stack benefits. I plan on using one magic holy symbol and then my shield will have a normal holy symbol imbedded. I mean, my Cleric worships Pelor...a giant sun on his shield that brandishes his holy might to slay undead is just great ;) The magic one will be around my neck
