If you are unconcious, then you are not willing.

If you are not willing, then you are not being teleported.

If you are unconscious you are somewhat like a sack of potatoes.

If you are a sack of potatoes you are not willing.

If you are a sack of potatoes you are being teleported (even if "not willing").

Heh, I think Occam's razor favors my argument; not that I have anything agains potatoes or tubers in general...

As a side note, I'd house rule that "willing" actually means "not unwilling" in my own campaing. Just wish they had put that in print.

1. Contingency/teleport automatically fails

What?!?! Get a hold of yourself man. Read the contingency spell...

"You can place another spell upon your person so that the latter spell comes into effect under some condition you dictate when casting contingency. The companion spell and the spell it is to bring into effect are cast at the same time. The 10-minute casting time is the minimum total for both castings; if the companion spell has a casting time longer than 10 minutes, use that casting time instead. The spell to be brought into effect by the contingency must be one that affects your person (feather fall, levitate, fly, teleport, and so forth) and be of a spell level no higher than one-third your caster level (rounded down, maximum 6th level). The conditions needed to bring the spell into effect must be clear, although they can be general. For example, a contingency cast with water breathing might prescribe that any time you are plunged into or otherwise engulfed in water or similar liquid, the water breathing spell instantly comes into effect. Or a contingency could bring a feather fall spell into effect any time you fall more than 4 feet. In all cases, the contingency immediately brings into effect the second spell, the latter being "cast" instantaneously when the prescribed circumstances occur. Note that if complicated or convoluted conditions are prescribed, the whole spell combination (contingency and the companion magic) may fail when called on. The companion spell occurs based solely on the
stated conditions, regardless of whether you want it to.You can use only one contingency spell at a time; if a second is cast, the first one (if still active) is dispelled.Material Components: Those of the companion spell, plus quicksilver and an eyelash of an ogre mage, ki-rin, or similar spell-using creature. Focus: A statuette of you carved from elephant ivory and decorated with gems (worth at least 1,500 gp). You must carry the focus for the contingency to work."

Seems pretty clear to me that it would work.

OK. That's it. You wanna know how this works? Fine. I'll tell ya...

...You can't teleport anybody! Not even yourself! Nothing is a willing target! Nothing! Ever! Not even a hairball or dust devil!

...maybe that will end the discussion, but then again, maybe not.

Read the last line of that contingency spell.

"You must carry the focus for the contingency to work."

If your contingency for teleport is when you go unconscious, it won't work because you can't focus when you're unconscious.

So...when you're unconscious, you can't "carry" something? Sheesh. Take my previous advice.

The contingency happens INSTANTLY as stated in the spell (by stated of course I mean beaten to death in the descriptor, much the same as this thread), as such it is a free action. Also the spells focus says carry not hold in your hands, so no worry of dropping it, & you do not need to focus on the item for the contingency to come in to play (read the spell) just have it on your PC. If a constant focus was required for a contingency to work, it wouldn't be a very effective contingency now would it? And to complete my protest of the Contingency/teleport debunking, you can simply set the contingency/teleport to happen an instant before you fall into unconsciousness. Translation of that comment... as the damage source is dealing the damage that would drop you to 0 or below, as the sword is piercing your flesh, as the mace is crushing your skull, as the fire ball renders your flesh to carbonic glory. Any good DM would allow a PC to let out a flavour enhancing scream/or grunt as a free action, so this should be permitted as well, as a simultaneous INSTANTANEOUS action.

this thread is silly :)
