While I did enjoy 4 more than you did, I totally agree on Generations. That movie was terrible compared to the episode you mentioned (which is one of my favorite all time). One of my biggest complaints was that I feel they should never have had Kirk in it at all. His role in the film was a gimmick. There was no need to have a "passing of the torch" movie. The TNG cast was strong enough to carry a film all on their own. One mistake in a huge series of mistake for the franchise, in my opinion.Baraendur said:I'm not as thrilled with IV as a lot of people are. When I go to see a Star Trek movie, I really want to see the characters interracting with their universe, not ours. It was watered down scifi that was entirely too preachy. Trek IV was much more fun and ended things for that cast on a high note.
I would still be just as happy if they would have made a real TNG movie instead of Generations. I felt like All Good Things was the film they should have made and Generations was a weak filler movie designed just so the two casts could meet each other on the big screen.

John Crichton said:Why is that?! Just because someone didn't get a chance to either see it in the theater or hasn't gotten around to it yet doesn't mean that others can't be courteous and mindful and not give spoiler warnings. Especially if they are big one (not that this is the case).

I agree its not a very exciting Star Trek movie but thats because it isn't really a "Star Trek" movie. Its one of the greatest classic science fiction movies ever made, alongside 2001 and the Forbidden Planet. It just happens to be set in the Star Trek universe. If you think about the atmosphere the movie has, you'll realize it. The feel is totally different from all other Star Trek movies.
You'll have to pardon me if I think the "I don't care" doesn't hold much water with me. I always make sure to give a spoiler warning in a non-spoiler warning thread (and in general conversation when I don't know if someone has seen something) when giving away important plot elements to anything. I guess I can't expect others to hold the same courtesy. Oh well. If there was a surefire way to avoid spoilers without completely avoiding a certain topic (in this case, one out of ten movies) I and others would have employed it by now.Welverin said:Because you can't expect people to refrain from discussing something forever. See what Baraendur said for more. To sum up, after a certain point it's your resposibility to avoid spoilers and not others job to avoid giving them.
It is rude to give spoilers intentionally and it's a good idea to spoiler tag it in an unrelated topic.
