Casting Time of a scroll

Hypersmurf

Wands have a specific note that if the spell has a casting time longer than one action, it takes that long to cast the spell from a wand.

I can't find an equivalent rule for scrolls, or spell completion items in general!

Is it really a standard action to cast Blade Barrier, Raise Dead, or Identify from a scroll?

DMG 175
However, the casting time the casting time of a spell is the time required in an item, weather it's a scroll, a wand or a pair of boots, unless the description specifficaly states otherwise.

Ah!

I must have looked right past it when I went to the Spell Completion Item section :) Thanks :)

So infusions are the only ones that break that rule, huh?

Infusions, the edible divine scrolls from Masters of the Wild.

From the MotW FAQ:

If you use an infusion to hold a spell with a long casting
time, will the infusion take an equally long time to take
effect?

No. An infusion takes effect immediately when imbibed
(which requires a standard action), regardless of the spell's
casting time.

Which is a freaky bizarre ruling, but you get that from the FAQs sometimes.
