Castles and Crusades: A Lion in the Ropes (Full)

O.K. I've clarified a bunch of that. Two things- I guess I'm still not really getting how backpacks work, but if I'm wearing one that's carrying 4 Enc the total to me is 7 Enc? Doesn't seem right according to cheat sheet but then again that's not the same thing as the book :) . What's confusing me there is that the Enc for the backpack is 4 (3 if worn) then, on cheat sheet at least, it says a backpack reduces encumbrance of items within them as well.

And yes, firewater is liquor (and not for pansies, either!)

As far as backpack goes it is confusing and its ENC of 4 strikes me as high. Im going to rule this way: A backpack has an ENC of 1, worn it is 0. It has a carrying capacity of up to 8 ENC, which if worn would be 7 ENC. The backpack just decreases the total amount of the items in your pack. By your example you have 8 ENC in the backpack so the total weight would be 7 ENC.

By my calcualtions I think your total ENC of listed items would be 15 ENC. Im calcualting that you have a quiver with the arrows and worn the quiver would be an ENC of 1.

So with an ENC rating of 10, (8+2 str) James is lightly encumbered, movement is reduced by a quarter, and -1 to all physical checks and AC.

Alrighty, after languishing for a week, the game now seems full. My thanks to all wh o ahve responded. The limit is 8, and hopefully that wont be too unwieldy. Heres the roster-

Committed/In:
Sado- Fighter type
Krug -Cleric or Druid?
Kuld-TBA
scout989-Ranger
howandwhy99-Assassin

Expressed interested/possible if they wish, slots 6-8:
khraven
mps42
Andrew D Gable

Expressed interest slot 9 (alternate?)
TroyXavier

For those of you whove expressed interest, let me know if you still want in ASAP. Having the book is a plus although I havent been too picky in that regard thus far. But if you feel this might be a hindrance to you, Id rather have someone who does have the PHB.

If one of slots 6-8 dont want in or dont respond TroyXavier can obviously have the slot if he wishes.

If the first five can get some sort of character idea up Id appreciate it, then we can address questions and get chargen over with and on with the game.

That sounds cool to me. I think that does it as far as mechanics are concerned?

I've already told you a bit about James' story, here's a bit of personal description. James is a lumberjack (that's what I really meant by woodsman) who is accustomed to spending long periods of time by himself, but in spite of that, he likes people a lot, and that extends to all races (hey, are bugbears friendly? well lets go find one and ask it!). He is also- obviously- not terribly bright. He tends to be a bit more boisterous than those around him care for, but it's only from excitement and good cheer. Physically, he is a bit imposing, on the up side of 6'3" and over 240 pounds of pure axe-swinging muscle. His hair and beard are wildly bushily maintained with absolutely no loving care whatsoever. He is dark of hair and ruddy of skin; looking at him brings up comparisons to a great woolly playful black bear.
Since the monster-slaying incident, ol' Jimmy has gotten rather impressed with himself. He figures he's about a match for what the world has to offer, so he talks himself up as often as possible as the greatest woodsman of them all.

After reading the cheatsheet and the info provided, I think I'll go with the dwarven paladin. :)

So, I am ready for the rolls. I don't know how to put my character on a Char-sheet like scout989 has. Is there a command for it or a link?
