CG vs. LE: Chaotic Good is Victorious!

Gansk PJSlavner, ugulu: [sblock] It seems to be worded like a beholder, and it's a beholderkin, so I'd run it the same way. The difference is a base 5 eyes instead of 3 and that this thing cannot tilt and pan. I don't know how much it can twist, especially given it's speed.

When it uses metaray, all the other eye rays can still be used as free actions. I guess that's why it causes the one ray to be unusable for some number of rounds.

No save is listed in the monster description for polar ray. [/sblock]

Ugulu, Gansk, Infiniti[sblock]Thank you, Infiniti. Here is the configuration of the rays (ahead is just a convention; there does not seem to be a real front to the creature):

Ahead: dominate person, major creation, polar ray, telekinesis, stunning
Left: polar ray, dominate person, stunning, reactive spell immunity, crushing despair
Behind: reactive spell immunity, crushing despair, reactive spell turning, greater dispel magic, chain lightning
Right: greater dispel magic, chain lightning, hold monster, temporal stasis, major creation
Straight up: telekinesis, suggestion, temporal stasis, reactive spell turning, hold monster

It costs five feet of movement to turn ninety degrees.

Its knowledge skills are nature, nobility, religion, and the planes. It knows nothing about its opponent other than what it has observed.[/sblock]The fog disappeared when Pyrex was defeated (CL check 23).

It's much worse, actually. Be afraid. Be very afraid. I have a strong feeling that Livox will not survive the round.

Tactical suggestions to ugulu, because this creature is just so freakin' cool, plus a mod question: [sblock] As you teleport in, I'm sure that the mods will allow you to immediately choose "facing." I'd suggest teleporting into the victory zone somewhere and having Left be facing Livox, and blast him with a normal polar ray which should kill him (no save, no SR, simple touch).

And THEN, since you've only used up a move action (teleport), and a free action (ray), ready to blast the next opponent with another ray. And THEN, you need to find out how the mod's rule free actions combined with a ready. There's some debate whether you can ready an action and then used some number of free actions during the ready (in addition to whatever you readied). I'm not sure where I fall on this topic, but I know the KD provided a decent argument that you cannot combine multiple actions, free or not, in the ready.

But, you will always be able to use one of the two reactive rays each round, so keep your good eye on where they are pointed in case the mod's don't remember and don't catch the scenarios in which they can be used. [/sblock]

Ugulu and Infiniti[sblock]Only one free, move, or standard action can be readied, so only one ray for the next combatant, assuming Livox is dispatched immediately.[/sblock]

Appearing at 110n70e is a creature that resembles a black, rubbery tree of undulant flesh. Thick, matted sheets of wiry fungus grow all over its surface. The tree's thirteen gnarled branches each end in a single large eye. Three fanged maws gurgle lower on the tree's trunk, and it supports itself with a thick, coiling mass of eight long tentacles.

It is 15ft tall and weighs 4,000 pounds (space 10'x10'....of course)

Spangler (??) appearing 'facing' west, and will try a Polar Ray on Livox - then decide on what to do next based on that result.

OOC: Using Google, I find that there is a five-piece band named Spangler, and there is a candy company named Spangler. I think the name comes from the candy company, because the tree is so sweet.

Round 393

The ray hits Livox (rolled 29 touch) and freezes him for 51+25=76 points of cold damage. Livox would shatter when he hit the ground if he did not get teleported out first.

Ugulu, Infiniti, Gansk[sblock]I think that Spangler cannot ready an action (nor do anything else) once your opponent is defeated, because the new opponent appears immediately. I should have told you earlier, giving you the chance to declare your readied action before you knew the result of the polar ray, in which case that would have been OK. This is my error to not let you know ahead of time, so I will allow the readied ray. Which ray are you readying?[/sblock]Next in round 393 for Chaotic Good is a secret until Ugulu decides on what Spangler will do. There was a moderator error so Spangler gets a chance to do something.

Evilhalfling's sneak preview of the next Chaotic Good combatant:[sblock]A very old chaos dragon.

It has the feats Ability Focus (confusion breath), Blind-Fight, Cleave, Combat Expertise, Flyby Attack, Hover, Power Attack, Recover Breath, Snatch, Weapon Focus (bite), and Weapon Focus (claw).

It has maximum ranks in the skills Concentration, Escape Artist, Knowledge (arcana, dungeoneering, the planes), Listen, Search, and Spot. It has 6 ranks in Spellcraft, and 5 ranks in each of Diplomacy and Knowledge (religion).[/sblock]
