Charisma - A Munchkin Paladin's Dream

Of course, as the more recent version of an item, it also counts as erratta. Meaning that all armor of command grants bonuses to charisma checks. The armor of command from DotF was pretty much as broken as the vast majority of the armors from that book. Somebody was asleep at the playtesting wheel that night. :)

Someone was asleep at the playtesting wheel for just about every splatbook and supplement that came out after the 3.0 core rules. Due to the vast array of overpowered equipment, feats, spells and PrCs it is almost impossible to meet new gamers and play a game without having put up with characters with 4 prestige classes, specialized equipment that throws off game play or favors the min/maxers to a ridiculous degree.

It's not my game :).

So its alright to espouse immoral behavior as long as it doesn't affect you? And people wonder why the moral fiber of society is slipping away.

I could not find any standard WOTC spells from 3.5 apart from Eagles Spendor that effects charisma. However BoED/BoVD may have some I'm not aware of - help anyone.

Yep. Greater Aspect of the Deity (BoED) grnts the half-celestial template, for a +4 racial bonus to Cha. You could also go with a non-standard race for a higher charisma. Succubus give a +16 racial bonus in exchange for 13 ECL (6 of whih is hit dice). Several of the fey grant lower bonuses at a much lower ECL.

Vow of Poverty can give you a +8 enhancement bonus instead of +6. But you have to giv up posessions, which makes the other plusses harder to come by, so I'll skip it.

As written Animal Affinity (PsiHB) gives an unamed bonus of d4+1. If it doesn't get updated to 3.5 to become a flat +4, and your DM doesn't remove the ability ofthe Fortify Power (WotC Mind's Eye website) feat to stack with itself, you could get (on a good roll) +15. My totals below will assume that it only grants +4.

So you could get:

56 (+23) 18/base + 16/succubus + 4/GAotD + 6/enh + 5/inherent + 3/level +4/AnAff

Yeah, but at least none of the other spatbooks had armor of speed, armor of energy drain, or 5 PrCs that a cleric would be a fool not to dip into because there is effectively no cost for them (knowledge arcana and spellcasting for most, just knowledge arcana for the Contemplative).

The rest of them had a few overpowered things that slipped through, but nowhere near as much (IMO) as DotF.

Bah. Don't use the crappy stuff. In my current game, we've got 5 PCs at 12th level, and only one took a prestige classe (shadowdancer, core), and none have any spells or abilities that I didn't okay. The only PrC in the group is from a guy whose last character died. Now he feels he should balance the lack of PrCs, so he's going to be a Wizard 5/Candle Caster 2/Mage of the Arcane Order 2/Loremaster 3.

Hm, so how long can you delay going up a level? Could you stack up XP but still get higher amounts of XP for being lower level than the rest of the party, then splurge it all at once in a multi-orgasmic frenzy of levelling?

Mark

Sortof, I do believe that there is still a rule somewhere saying no more than one level per session or something like that.

Failing that though, if you are not using your levels then you are falling behind. Thus making it easier for you to be killed at any particular time and loseing all of that stored exp plus some. Now that is a pretty big risk ;)

Yeah...it's all Hyp's fault. ;)

He's simply stating the rules as they were mentioned.

Love ya, Hyp. You're always one of the first people I look for when I need some rules clarified.

Nope, its not all Hyp's fault. But it is largely the fault of people with the same pilosohpy as Hyp has exhibited with those statements.

I don't disparage his rules knowledge and question-answering skills. I think wed probably all be better off if he had Skip Williams' job.

I just don't want him at my gaming table.

Ah, but if I were at your gaming table (in disguise, I suppose :) ), then it would be my game, so I'd be morally obliged to point out any such oversights.

Once the player's aware, it's incumbent upon him to make that decision. I just answered the question.

Have I missed anything?

Well, just a nit-pick. In 3.0, you could have your Incantrix buddy cast Eagle's splendor on you empowered (x7). What does that average out to...+9 with a max of +17 enhancement bonus?
