Charisma - A Munchkin Paladin's Dream

I know it's not much, but remember that you can get up to +3 for being old. Squeaking out another +1 or so.

Still, that gives you a -6 to all physical stats (unless you "dip into" monk or druid for many levels, which kind of defeats the point of being a paladin), so it's sub-optimal, but it's an option.

...You could also go with a non-standard race for a higher charisma. Succubus give a +16 racial bonus in exchange for 13 ECL (6 of whih is hit dice). ...

So you could get:

56 (+23) 18/base + 16/succubus + 4/GAotD + 6/enh + 5/inherent + 3/level +4/AnAff

A succubus paladin eh? Very different. We had one once in our campaign world because one of our party had managed to get a helm of opposite alignment and duffed up the succubus enough to place the helm on her. She help us in whatever task we were doing and then, in the campaign world, went on to form a paladin school - as she was the total opposite of the evil she was. Of course this was in 1st ed. No ECLs then. Another precedent is the character Fallfromgrace out of planescape torment would be an example of the good demon.

If you're making a new character, you can get a quick +6 Charisma by being a Half-Celestial Aasimar. It's +5 ECL, but you get some nice abilities for your troubles, and you can use the Charisma to make up for a lot of lost ground with Divine Might.

It also folds very nicely with a level of Sorceror for True Strike action, if your DM allows multiclassing Paladins. (I'd go for Dragon Disciple.)

That's not core 3.5, right ?
The initial post didn't specify core 3.5.
It said only "WotC products". And Charm domain is in FR.

BTW: Using an ECL race with a Paladin is not very effective, from a power gaming perspective. You can take my word for it, or not, but I'm not going to argue that statement. It's fairly straightforward, since almost all the Paladin's abilities are CLASS level dependant.

BS - great find, with the half-nymph. I've been looking for years for an ECL race that actually is worth losing paladin levels for, while gaining a benefit in CHA.
What product is the "book of templates"?

Indeed it was, I wish I had found it before I made my half-nymph paladin but the one from dragon magazine isn't half bad and it has a charisma bases special attack. Anyhow the book of templates is on RPGnow.com Look for the deluxe version.
