Checking Interest in a PbP Game

Ok, let's say you have each been gifted with a non-magical suit of armor (whatever is appropriate to your race and class) and a non-magical weapon (again appropriate to your race and class) that you do not have to buy. If you want to work that into your backstory, that's cool. You can also assume you have collected a few adventuring items such as a backpack, 50' of rope, a knife (not dagger), cook kit, a couple of torches, flint & steel, 2 flasks of oil, a bedroll, and a small tent (if you want to carry it) again that you do not have to buy. You can use your starting money to purchase any other non-magical items you wish (that you will have to carry). I am not going to use encumbrance but keep it reasonable.

Well, shoot jm! Didn't think of a cleric needing to worship a deity when I said only the 3 original books. Not gonna use any of the "Complete" books so specialty priests are not an issue. But a Dwarven Cleric worshiping Zeus or Odin or Osiris just doesn't seem to fit. Looked at the 1st edition Deities and Demigods but there is only one Dwarven god in there, Moradin. The 2nd edition book, Legends & Lore has no nonhuman deities in it. 2nd edition Monster Mythology does not cover the player character nonhumans, only monsters. This leads us further down the 2nd Edition rabbit hole. We could use the Planescape book On Hallowed Ground which is very comprehensive but it does assume specialty priests which I want to avoid and opens up a lot of complexity which I also want to avoid. Unless.....we just use it in general for which dwarven deity you want to worship but don't get into the Planescapey details. Let me know what you think/want to do.

Moradin is traditional.

Clangeddin Silverbeard is another traditional dwarf deity. CS worshipers tend to use Battleaxe though.

I'll go with Moradin if you haven't really gone deep into the pantheons of the game world.

The best cleric book of 2nd is the Forgotten Realms book: Faiths and Avatars. Even the kits are relatively "safe". (Relatively :) )

Yah, Faiths and Avatars is kinda deep too. Moradin it is!

Ok, jm has his character pretty much done, great job and lots of detail! How about the rest of you? Get your characters posted like jm's and we will get going. Gonna post the startup in the next few days.
