D&D 5E Copying a spell into the (Spell) book

"When you find a wizard spellof 1st level or higher, you can add it to your spellbook if it isof a level for which you have spell slots and if you can sparethe time to decipher and copy it"

Does this mean that if i have a 3rd level spell slot and multiclassed into a wizard I can copy 3rd level Wizard spell scrolls?

You can say "it has to be a wizard's spell slot" but it doesn't say that just a slot that you have. If it were a Wizard spell slot it would say "...level for which you havespell slots, as shown on the Wizard table" right?

If you want to get technical rules as written, perhaps it does support that reading. However, that would not allow you to actually prepare or cast such a spell (for which you do have to be the correct level in the correct class--see the multiclassing rules), so you'd just be admiring it in your spellbook.

Based off this
"You prepare the list of wizard spells that are available
for you to cast. To do so. choose a number of wizard
spells from your spellbook equal to your Intelligence
modifier + your wizard level (minimum of one spell). The
spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots"

wouldn't I be able to prepare at least 2 9th level spells because I would have a at least 13 INT and 1 wizard level so thats 2 spells i could prepare.

Intelligence Modifier. 13 int has a modifier of +1, combined with your Wizard level that gives you up to 2 spells.

EDITED: I fixed a thing.

EDIT 2: My mind is all screwed up, and I completely misread your post. ignore me, while I go find a corner to shame myself in...

Take a look at the multiclassing rules. You can't prepare a spell your class level doesn't yet allow you to cast. The text on the wizard is a bit confusing because they get all that extra spellbook wordcount, but it is clear when comparing to other classes. No one ever designed the game thinking, "Hey guys, what if we allow a full caster to dip one level of wizard and theoretically learn the entire wizard spell list off of scrolls? Cool, right?"

You get to use your spells in the higher level slots, but you don't get the higher level spells.

EDIT: Or we could just look at the errata.

Wizard
Your Spellbook (p. 114). The spells copied
into a spellbook must be of a spell level
the wizard can prepare.

(There's a link to it on that page. I can't find a convenient page with the most up to date errata gathered together, oddly enough.)

No, you can't do that. If your character is a Cleric 5 / Wizard 1 (has 3rd level slots), you ignore the Cleric levels when learning and preparing spells. A Wizard 1 only has 1st level slots, so your character can only copy level 1 spells into their spellbook.

Page 164 of the PHB:

You determine what spells you know and can prepare for each class individually, as if you were a single-classed member of that class.

The PHB Errata:

Your Spellbook (p. 114). The spells copied into a spellbook must be of a spell level the wizard can prepare.

Sage advice:

"can he copy 2nd level wiz spell into his book "
"No"
