PS: What's with all the hate for Chaos? There's almost no one left on the fun side of the alignment spectrum.
I don't know if any deities were actually knocked off for being chaotic.
Chaotic alignment does seem to cause problems in-game. A lot of disruptive or back-stabbing PCs have used that (not always as an "I have to 'cuz I'm chaotic" excuse, but still...) IMO, the difference between law and chaos is much more poorly explained than the difference betwen good and evil. (A lot of the good vs evil paladin debates are really silly, IMO. Yes, killing an orc kid is evil. Duh.)
The statement "I can't do this because I'm lawful" makes me see red. I think the lawful code-following part of the paladin makes it so troublesome and makes some monk players have a lot less fun with their character. (The inability to fight worth a d**n is another problem with the monk.)
The single worst played PC I have ever seen was a lawful "samurai" (someone used the lame CW class). The player thought that sticking to a (very unrealistic) code meant he was RPing, even though he wasn't.
