This is why I like my Scarred Lands gods.

I think you misunderstand my statement.
When you vote to remove things from a list, it is usually the most well known that get voted off first.
By the end you have the least offensive, least well known, and thus usually most boring items on the list.
But doing it the other only gives you the most well known as the usual result.

So a combination of the two ways of polling would be most likely to get you a closer to true answer; starting with an initial "vote to keep" to cull the boring and then a few rounds of voting off.
But then again, it's 7am for me. I may not be awake enough to think clearly beyond "put on socks".

That's exactly what I want in a deity. Boring, unoffensive, and easily forgotten! Think about it. It's all those drastic micromanaging glory hog deities that mess the place up.

At least I think so. Which is why I'm betting on Nemorga being the winner in a Scarred Lands Deity Survivor. He's not bland, just neutral!
