Heironeous, Hextor, Kord, and Moradin all have similar portfolios with their own nuances. Heironeous favors paladins. Hextor favors tyrants. Kord is a rugged individualist. Moradin likes dwarves. But each deity has a martial aspect which is often the focus of adventurers.

Get rid of Moradin. Dwarves had Ulaa in 1e. They can have her now too!

Yeah but we tossed out the notion of a reasonable world-view as regards what gods get to stay some time ago.

Yondolla as a goddess of agriculture, fertility and the family? Gone.
Fharlaghn as a god of opportunity, luck, trade and travel? Gone.
Pelor as a god of the sun, medicine and renewal? Gone.

Kord's a fit as a god of athleticism and competition.
Moradin's a dead ringer as a god of craft.
Olidammara as a trickster god of wine, music and festivals.

It all points back to one conclusion: adventuring is the sole driving force behind civilization. All those commoner and expert chumps don't need gods because they don't need to smite anything.
