Core Rules Alternative Cover Gift Set

Original covers online: $96. This set: $170. It is hard to justify spending that much for something we already have, or could get much cheaper with the normal covers.

Later this year, you'll be able to get your hands on a alternate cover "gift set" of the Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks from your local game store for $170. These are apparently exclusive to local game stores, so you won't find it on Amazon.

Note the older cover core set gets a gift box as well!

Some people are really into collecting the FLGS covers. They go for a significant premium online, and because there's so few books from Wizards this is an easy way to bait a segment of the market to buy the same content twice.

I don't really get it, but then the guy that owns my FLGS is kind of a jerk and it's not worth putting up with his BS to get a different picture. Especially when I wrap all my books in paper bag dust covers.

The errata has been included into all the core books with each new printing, it would be very strange if these were the only ones not to have it.

Plus the discount price on Amazon for the DM screen, so $106. Plus however much you think the case is worth that it all comes in. So if this set gets the usual Amazon discount that all other 5E stuff gets, it should sell for between $110-120. That is a small enough difference that this would make a great present for someone new to the game and who wants to DM.

Is that the same old DM screen with a new cover in the Alt set (I assume so).

And updated DM screen would pique my interest.

I factored in the DM screen in the $96, and the box is next to worthless... maybe $100 versus $170. If you think $70 is negligible, you can Paypal it to me.
