Crossbow Ranger Build Suggestions

Felon

I've been looking for a chance to use my witch hunter mini, who holds an axe in one hand and a crossbow in the other. The new hunter build in MP2 looks perfect, but are there any advantages to using a crossbow over the customary greatbow? Any juicy crossbow feats, for instance?

Greatbow is 1d12, +2 prof, Superior Crossbow is 1d10, +3 prof. That is enough reason right there since the majority of a Ranger's damage comes from static mods and not dice. MCing Rogue and stealing powers (Snap Shot) is another good reason. So yeah, tons of good reasons to go Crossbow.

Now if you mean a Hand Crossbow in one hand and an axe in the other.... not sure. Probably doable with a Rogue MC tho. Two-Fisted shooter would be a good place to start developing a concept.

All good and well so far, but I ain't seeing "tons" yet. If it was an even payout of feats, I'd be sold, but I also gotta burn a feat for fast reload. Anybody else got anything?

There is a crossbow that gives you fast reload for free. Getting a +3 d10 weapon instead of a +2 d12 weapon is worth the feat. ;)

I think there is a paragon feat that gives +3 damage with crossbow if you haven't moved. (From the PHB).
You can multiclass into Rogue and get sneak attack* for +2d6 damage once an encounter. Pretty neat. :)

*You can sneak attack with a crossbow, you can't with a bow...
