CS2 Development Status

Twin Rose

First Post
The first wave of beta testing for Campaign Suite 2 should begin shortly. There are still a few more features that we plan to add, as well as some expanding on existing ones, before testing begins in earnest. Several people are on the current beta tester list, and will be contacted next week sometime about how to download the beta version.

I'll use this thread to continue to post updated development status, but to save people's bandwidth, I'll keep screenshots in other threads as normal.

One major change in CS2 from CSX is the ability to add and manage different spell lists to a character. By this, I mean that you can have a list of (say) 3 different memorization schemes for a character... Such as if you expect to have heavy combat one day, or a lot of stealth, or anything of that nature. There will also be a random generator included. Note that some classes, such as bards, only have one spell list.

As a side note because I get asked this a lot, anyone buying CSX now will receive 20 dollars off the purchase of CS2 when it becomes available, as well as may have an opportunity to join in the beta testing.

The Importer for CSX files for CS2 is well underway, and should garauntee a minimum of lost data for anyone making the switch. I especially plan to make sure that characters remain intact. Unfortunately, the affects system in CS2 is much more advanced than it was in CSX, so custom files will probably need some tweekng after import - hopefully a very minimum.

I'm also looking at the possibility of importing/exporting RPGXplorer files as well.

With some help from the CSX importer, I've now completed all the data-entry for the Core, PC classes from the SRD in CS2 and used them to create complete characters. I've made full characters, multi-class characters and characters with race as well as class levels and all have worked perfectly.

The equipment and magic editor is getting some attention now. Once done, I expect to make some basic statblock and character sheets, and send this off to beta testers to begin working with while I turn my attention to the dungeon, city, and other generator portions of the program.
