I try to think up feats for a dragonborne to improve the breath weapon. Thats a bit of balancing as feats are powerful, but the dragonborne should not breath like a dragon and boosting a breath weapon might be also rather powerful. Hence, its a balance question, because it should be comparably useful to +2 stats or other good feats.
Please give you're opinion about the following ideas (no flavor explanations, just meachnics):
Breath Feat 1:
damage dice d6->d10, range doubled, so cone 15ft-> 30ft, line 30 ft-> line 60ft
Justification: its +2 dam and about 50% more targets hit with a once per short rest ability; compared to +1 dam/+1 to hit for all melee or ranged attacks and +1 to respective sav and +1 to respective skills it could be ok; compared to other feats which give things like extra attacks or 20% more hp it could be also ok
Breath feat 2 (requires feat 1):
damage dice d10-> d12, recharge 6 on d6 each round and recharge on initiative roll
Justification: its +1 and makes it usable at least once per combat; here i fear its to strong, but as it has a prerequisite its earliest level 6 or level 8 and has to be compared to +2dam/+2 to hit
Breath feat 3:
for metallic based dragonborne:
instead of damaging breath use alternative breath of the respective dragon type with range and dc as your damaging breath type
for chromatic based dragonborne:
whenever you use you're attack option for you're breath attack, you can use in the same turn the frightful presence ability of you're dragon type as a bonus action but with you're breath DC and range 20 ft (for 15ft cones and 30ft lines) or range 40 ft (for 30 ft cones and 60 ft lines)
Justification: here i am realy uncertain
If you have different ideas or have an idea how to improve or diminish a feat, so that its ok, please say so (though i think none of them is weak enough to justify a +1 to a stat).
