[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

[sblock=OOC]I suppose I should have said "one skill at a time." Meaning you can use Athletics this round and intimidate the next, or vise versa. We'll use the Athletics check for this one, and it'll be a success. [/sblock]

Vatan hurriedly rushes to and fro slashing grappling lines. Goblin after green-skinned goblin falls into the drink below.

Success: 1
Failure: 0

As soon as he is able Druthruss makes his way over to the ropes and starts chopping with the big axe. He knows from past experience he cant intimidate anything and just ends up making them angry. Chopping is something he's pretty accustomed to tho.

[sblock]
Athletics: 1d20+5 = 22. Inivis castle is down at mo.
[/sblock]

[sblock]Hmmm… Oddly, the wizard's best skill for this challenge is Acrobatics.

Invisible Castle is still down, so my die roll from home is:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 = 12
[/sblock]

Jude sees the others chopping the boarding lines, with a fairly good success rate, but seeing the number of goblins in the dim light and knows that they've got to get this boat moving. He looks around for a long piece of wood that can be used to push along the bottom to help propel the vessel along. Jude leaves his shield behind, knowing it will do little to aid him right now and begins his search.

[sblock=ooc]
Not sure if I need Perception first: if so 1d20+2 to find the object
If not: Endurance I think, 1d20+8 (left shield behind, so no -2 to check)[/sblock]

Druthruss and Pier aid in keeping the goblin-folk from boarding the ship; the dwarf cutting the lines at an alarming rate, and the surprisingly wizard nimble wizard knocking them from their ropes as fast as they can climb them.

Jude realizes the true size of the hoard, and knows that there is no way the crew can keep them all from boarding. He finds an oar and, along with several crewmen who understand his intentions, begin to push the faster along the slow-moving river.

Successes: 4 of 6
Failures: 0 of 3

Aridha bursts onto the scene from below deck, her furred leather armor only half-donned in her haste to join the fray. She nimbly bounds up the short staircase to the forecastle and narrows her eyes as she takes in the goblins arrayed against them. Immediately she begins coordinating whatever archers have been mustered, using her keen elf perceptions, and blossoms of lightning and fire, to find the darting figures wherever they hide.

(Perception for 30! Roll Lookup )

Sahyr grins, brandishing his blade in case any goblin's attempted to board ahead of the horde... sizing up the swarms and attempting to gauge the 'hive mind' and what the mob would do next.

[sblock=OOC]
Sahyr will attempt an Insight check, which is a +9 modifier. Invisiblecastle is down, so you can roll for me if you like, IG. If not, I can roll, but will likely be unable to link. Apologies for the delay.[/sblock]

Aridha and Sahyr collectively use their skills to point out the goblins as they attempt to board the ship. Several of the crewmen take up their missiles, putting well placed projectiles in the exact spots in which the heroes point.

Success: 6
Failure: 0

Jude and his makeshift team of oarsmen finally get organized and dig the oars in. The ship speeds up, and the goblinfolk still in the water can only watch as it speeds away. A few of the crewmen stop and cheer, but the captain, bloody and winded, cuts them short. "No time fer cheerin' yet mates, a load of em's made it on board!"

Many of the crew is already involved in the battle with those goblin who have managed to board. Roll initiative and get ready to join them!

[sblock=OOC]Only YOUR opponents will be on the map; assume that the captain and his crew are fighting against foes of their own in the background. The results of your encounter will directly impact theirs, but not the other way around.[/sblock]

AAARG!!

Init: 1d20+2 = 7!!!
Roll Lookup

"Avast me hearties!!! Thar be Gobbos aplenty for us all! Have at ye, ya misbegotten green skinned scurvy dogs o' tha Sea Cow!!!" Vatan will call out as he searches for the largest group of "honored combatants".
