  • New D&D starter set. Comes with 'digital onboarding'. Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. We knew about that one.
  • D&D digital monstrous compendium. Available to those with WoTC or D&D Beyond Accounts. Volume 1 has an eldritch lich and the 10 legged asteroid spider. And the starlancer. Might have misheard some of that!

  • MMO Neverwinter video. Dragonslayer begins June 2022. (I wonder if they'll need a dragonance for that?)
  • New D&D actual play video, Legends of the Multiverse. Lots of 80s cartoon style soft rock music. Boo is in it.

I want more DM-oriented material. Another Volo's or Mordenkainen's (Tome of Foes, not the reprint of old material that is Monsters of the Multiverse) would be cool. I don't want yet another Campaign level adventure, setting, or Anthology that only a fraction of it is useful or requires a tremendous amount of work by the DM to make functional.
Fair enough, I desire that aswell, i feel like they are simply saving anything like that for 2024 Relaunch basically

preorder is live and ummmm no. Hard pass. 192 pages for $70 American??? Because they put it in three books and a cute slip case???

Wow. I want this product, but definitely sounds like a bit of a money-grab: the same page count as a single hardcover, but $20 more. Actually, it is one of the slimmer hardcovers.

I suppose they're justifying the increase with (maybe) a nicer map, a DM's screen, and the case.

And I am totally getting the Alt Cover Spelljammer set. And I wonder if the Warlords of Krynn battle game is gonna serve two purposes: one as a separate game miniatures game, and one as the "official" mass combat rules for 5E. Kinda like how Modiphus came out with their version of a Miniature Combat "battle game" via their Star Trek RPG game alternative combat rule set called Red Alert that was demonstrated in their Operations Division Supplement.

On D&D Beyond, Spelljammer has a price of $50, so I'm sure the paper version will be more expensive.
Yeah that's in the "no thanks, jerk" price range given were only look at what, 192 pages? That's actively insulting, especially to digital customers who literally are not getting the slipcase or DMs screen (in a usable format anyway). U mad Ruin? Yes, I am mad.

Especially as we'll no doubt see more overpriced content-light releases as people rush to nostalgia-buy this.

Wow, tiny hardcovers in a slipcase sounds like a massive rip off. Why on earth be so wasteful? Absolutely bizarre decision. Glad I'm sticking to digital but I'm sure they'll price digital at the same (likely extortionate) price as physical, in which case: hard pass.

Dragonlance as an adventure makes more sense than as a setting, at least.
Yeah definitely a rip off. Not like those 2e boxed sets with multiple fragile softcover side stapled booklets or perfect bound ones that would come unglued from their bindings stuffed in a half empty box hat that would get banged up and crushed by hardcovers in your duffel bag on the way to game. Give me that any day instead of sturdy hardcovers in a slipcase!

(/giant dose of sarcasm, in case it wasn’t obvious)

For real though. I would much rather have a slipcase set these days than a boxed set. Only way a boxed set makes more sense is if you have smaller items included with it like dice or cards or what have you.
