D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Sure it did but it also significantly changed viewer habits. The Studio's freaked out and streamed movies they should have waited on and now a significant number of people have just stopped going to the Theatre's. Then Inflation hit and it's beginning to look like those changes are baked into the economy now.

Yes, they earned a lot of money with the movie of Batman, but also they spent too much to promote it.

From memory they couldn't afford Jack Nichokson. He agreed to a cut of the profits. Batman blew up way bigger than anyone thought.

Apparently he took hone something like 30-60 (1989) million dollars.

He was the highest paid actor ever not sure if he still is.

yes, I don't think people are going to the movies as often as they did pre-Covid, will have to see if that stays that way

It also resulted in a glut of movies waiting for a theatrical release in 2023, reducing everyone's possible box office haul on top of that
The next two years have basically zero double-weekends open in prime viewing months for a blockbuster to easily dominate a month. So much inventory was delayed that there are something like 50% more movies being released in 2023 than there were in 2019

No doubt that every problem in 2023 for the movie industry was made far worse by their reaction to 2022. In past cycles they would have shelved some of those movies and waited.

The MCU already needed a several year breather after Endgame in 2019, say 3-4 years. They'd already messed up by not giving that, but Covid and their reaction to Covid exacerbated it I think.

I was looking at how the movie is doing on streaming. Looking at this site, you see barely a mention of D&D. I looked around and it is on some lists for the US near the bottom. I think the notion that it is going to set the world on fire here is just not going to materialize. I don't want that to be true, but there it is.

Yes, I linked FlixPatrol weekly.

Since D&D:Honor Among Thieves is only streaming in the US, it doesn't do well on the worldwide scale. FlixPatrol does still list several digital download options, where D&D continues to rock it.
