D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I haven't done this, nor has any streaming service ever done this. They track views, signups and renewals as they judge what movies and series are responsible for income.
that was my point... buying on demand probably means more to HAT than someone signing up and watching it first, or second, or third...

Plus, for owners of an in-house streaming service, the best deal is ironically for people to subscribe but never stream, since that provides payment, but doesn't require providing service. (every streaming session for someone already subscribed is an added cost but no added benefit)

Which is part of the reason that we cannot trust the rankings on streaming, unless we know they are based solely on $, or if they are based on VOD.

Streaming pretty much a package deal its almost impossible to assign exact values.

Disney pays Disney+ for its movies for example. Big hit is 100 million dollars.

But that's still a hundred million the parent company has to fork out. I'm sure there's tax reasons involved.

Someone somewhere still has to find the money though. Selling your movie to a third party seems better idea.

Paramount Global earnings sat this about streaming. It's still a loss on the quarter, but a lower loss than expected.

CEO Bob Bakish. “Notably, Paramount+ revenue grew 47%, total DTC ad revenue increased 21%, and global viewing hours on Paramount+ and Pluto TV were up 35% year-over-year.

Deadline

Paramount Global stock is up almost 5% after the earnings report.

The mythology that Honor Among Thieves hurt Paramount can stop now

Not you're pushing a narrative the facts don't support.

At best HAT did well on streaming beyond that you can't prove anything.
BG3 is the big hit not HAT.

No one is claiming that HAT is a big hit.

What is being claimed is that HAT was a "flop". The counter to that is, "Well, it probably didn't do very well in the theater, but, in streaming seems to be really strong, so, it's likely going to break even." It's on you to prove that it's a "flop", whatever that is actually supposed to mean, since, apparently, that's a definition that's really hard to pin down.

All I said was its a flop in the theatre and unlikely t see a sequel anytime soon.

streaming seems to be really strong,

The positive word of mouth was certainly a help.

But Strong Streaming =/= Breaking even. Let alone turning a profit.

I don't know about Paramount.

But it is not mythology that it hurt Hasbro:

Hasbro took a $25 million write-down on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which released March 31, due to lower-than-expected box office receipts.
With the write-down and lower profit contributions from WotC, Hasbro profits slipped from a $219.1 million profit in 2022 to a $188.6 million loss in Q2 2023.

Streaming helped, but not enough. The debt incurred making the film had to be dealt with.

Honor Among Thieves Lost Money.
