Dark Fairytale IC

Kaleth regards the sprite that seemed to be the leader. His eyes shift to it's companion as it spoke the Fae tongue. He ignores the weapons pointing at him and speaks his voice cracks as he does not use it often.

[sblock=Sylvan]"We are no minions of Enid though she is the one that sent us. She was not forthcoming about your nature and had us believe you where insects plaguing the forest. It is not surprising to us that she was not fully truthful. I would speak with you regarding Enid and the conflict she has with you. It just might be beneficial to both our groups."[/sblock]

As Kaleth speaks he wraps himself in telekinetic protection in case the creatures decide to attack.

Wide grins plasters on Leonans face
"Oh, boy, this will be good. Hear us out, faeries, and you might get to play a mighty joke on Enid".

"Unfortunately we made an arrangement with the hag, as you call her." The Ranger sighs, "In order for us to free some children under her spell we agreed to remove you from "her" forest."

"But as she is the kind to stick to the letter of agreements; I feel obliged to say that we did not say for how long!"

Turning to his liege, "My lord, if we ask these folk to leave the forest for a moment then we have met the letter of our agreement with her. Is this a suitable strategy for you?"

Yes but our arrangement was to kill insects. These are obviously not insects so the arrangement is null and void.

Kaleth turns his attention back to the sprites. They could give them some necessary information.

[sblock=Sylvan]"We are not as much enemies of the hag as investigators. We are here looking for missing children. It appears that Enid has taken them as payment for some form of deal with the villagers. We made an arrangement as my associate said but were misinformed as to your nature. Which for me indicates we can not trust her. Why does she want you out of "her" forest and do you know why she would want children?"[/sblock]

He look to the others.

We should talk with them. They could have I site into this Enid. I also think that this is more proof Enid cannot be trusted.

"Our agreement was to destroy the hives. These folk are not insects and do not live in hives. I don't see anyway to technically complete the bargain and hold her to it. We are simply going to have to return, with no obligation, and deal with the problem at the source. I fear today will not end in peace."

OOC: Sorry the lawyer in me is coming out eek! In this case the term "insect" and "hive" was meant to mean "sprite" and "house" so deal stands not Emissions fault you didn't ask for defined terms but then a verbal contract is as good as the paper it is written on!.

The sprites form a tight ring and begin to whisper. "If you would consent to a test of heart we can take you to out village. Our elder will know more of the hag"

"Well, she didn't actually ask us to remove sprites. She asked for removal of insects. We should find some good big bee or hornet hives and bring them to her. Preferably with insects still alive and mad. "

"We knew we couldn't trust her, but that goes both ways. We were willing to do her chores. But in this case, she may get a taste of her own medicine. We just need to find suitably big insects to fulfill our end of bargain."

"The are bound to be hives in the forest this big, we just need to find them. Faeries, you heard about our deal. Would you like to join to thwart Enid?"

[MENTION=6798581]Azurewraith[/MENTION],
I'm no lawyer, but since we weren't aware that there is alternative explanation, how would that possibly stand? If I say, "eat messy chocolate and I'll do something in return", you agree and I say I meant excrement, you'd send me to hell. I could see the intent being relevant if we knew we're talking in euphemisms, but as-is, we're looking for insects. Pixies may have some insect-like features, but are not insects (and may or may not live in hives).

OOC: Without looking up the leading case I couldn't give definitive answer, but the "spirit of the contract would be looked at and given the conversation you have had with Enid you know she talks in metaphors, skel there is reasonable grounds to believe she would be when the agreement was made. This is all in English law.

"Angering Enid or Auntie Enid would not be a good idea. I know not the details but she is very powerful and has several powerful artifacts at her disposal."

"Well, do you have a better proposal? For whatever reason, she wants you out of her woods and at the moment cannot be bothered to do it herself. Can you defend from her if she turns her full attention to you?

If not, we definitely need to talk to your elders to find a solution."

Leonan walks in the middle of the sprites outwardly with no worries.
"Just out of curiousity, is she powerful because of the artifacts or she is powerful by herself and losing those artifacts wouldn't noticeably weaken her?"

Speaking to the group, but not really caring if sprites overhear.
"There must be something we can do to either back off this deal or turn it around. Can you think of anything - besides obviously stating her woods are clear of the bug hives therefore our part is done. Kaleth, you speak to them in their language, do you know more about their way of life and culture. How likely are they to cooperate? What did you talk about?"
