Do you truly not see the hypocrisy/double standard of this statement? It is ok for your preferences to trump others simply because you don't like it? 🤔

You do realize no one would force you to buy let alone play the setting don't you?

That's great, but I think you're missing the fact that he's calling out others for constantly being aggrieved for not having their desires placated and how that instantly turns around about how those aggrieved with what they like should not be listened to. The whole point is that the people who whine about how things change and how people don't care about their feelings suddenly don't care about feelings when people point out what they don't like about old things.

Who is "whining" about change?
People are asking for DS to be changed and updated for 5e, and pointing out the majority of it fits right in with current objectionable IRL stuff that is already in the game.

The only whining I am seeing is in some of the fantastical comparisons with crushing skulls and camps...

Who is "whining"? Read the first half of the post you quoted, which you oddly enough cut out. @Hussar states it pretty clearly that he is frustrated with something that goes beyond this thread, an attitude of "feelings for me, not for thee" that is pretty obvious to anyone who has been outside of this thread and seen the pattern.

Perhaps you should stop cutting out parts of posts that aren't convenient to your argument because all this stuff comes off as a strawman of what @Hussar is actually saying.

I addressed the whining, and haven't seen it in this thread as described, though it is prevelant in some posts against a DS setting for 5e

So you see nothing wrong with the solution to the rant (which I cut from my quote because it is not relevant to my point) is doing the exact thing they were ranting about!? 🤣

My point has nothing to do with their feelings, and everything to do with their hypocrisy/double standard as a solution to their perceived grievance. It would serve no purpose to include the parts of the post that have nothing to do with the point being made.

Really? The "majority" of it fits right in? I've already debunked the whole psycho hag murders children example. What other one would you like to bring up?

Again, nothing you're claiming seems to actually be in touch with reality. You keep making vague presentiments that if WotC builds it, they'll do it in such a way that it will be acceptable to everyone. But, when actually questioned for specifics about how WotC should do that - include slavery without it being either incredibly offensively white washing or presenting in such a way to make it completely unsuitable for the target audience of a very large chunk of D&D - ie. the 12-18 crowd - everyone seems to just wave their hands and hem and haw.

Slavery is horrific. There's a reason Paizo has stepped away from using it.

No, because I didn't see it as a rant, I saw it as someone expressing their exasperation with a problem they've seen a great many times over the years. I mean, you clearly don't post as much as we do, so I can forgive your ignorance of the matter. You clearly haven't seen the phenomenon like we have, and that's fine. But @Hussar wasn't ranting as much as just showing a real human frustration with what he sees as hypocrisy. I guess, in your limited view, you simply cannot see that, but I would say that you probably should try and understand it.

Again, I don't think you really read his post, but just sort of cut out small parts and attacked it without considering the whole. Honestly, you come off way more aggro than he does with these sorts of aggressive posts trying to make him seem like a hypocrite. This whole thing just seems to be more about avoiding the argument he's making to instead clutch pearls. Which, hey, is totally your prerogative, but I don't think you are coming off exactly the way you think you are.

Allow me to introduce you to the apparent paradox of tolerance.

"Oh, it's okay. You don't have to read it." "Oh, it's okay, you don't have to see it." "Oh, it's okay, it doesn't really impact you" are excuses at best. Sweeping making broad swaths of the fandom uncomfortable under the carpet just so you can have whatever it is you want.

I thought we had finally moved past that. Guess not.

So your experience trumps mine and you somehow know what I have read?

This reads more like because I don't see things your way I am wrong. So you will dismiss it, and ridicule me.

Nice, we are done

That paradox is exactly what I am pointing out!
Its existing is a problem for some even though plenty of people want it because you don't and will not buy or play it but somehow your view is all that matters.

They didn't.

Paizo made it so Cheliax now calls their slaves indentured servants and Geb still has the majority of living residents as slaves used for food, experimentation, or future undead, but it doesn't mention that in current sourcebooks.

So all 5E Dark Sun would need to do is call slaves "indentured servants" or not say anything about the slaves that everyone knows exist in the setting and they'd have done the same amount as Paizo.
