Desert
Evening

“Yes, let’s push on,” Kimet said. “We do not want to be caught in the open when the storm comes, even in these rocks. We will have to hurry.” She had napped during their little siesta in the shade, but now it was darkening and the desert cooling. It would get cold soon.

Kimet climbed into the cart and fiddled with some of the supplies, rigging up a water trap to capture any of the moisture that might condense in the cold night air. Then she jumped down, grabbed up her maul, and waited for the muls to get the crodlu ready to depart.

OOC: Wow 3 rolls under 10 in a row...

An hour passes and there is no sign of the sandstorm however the Krodlu are feeling the strain.
GM: The Krodlu gain one level of exhaustion its your call on keep pushing them or not. At this pace it will take 4hours instead of 8 to make it but the Krodlu must make saves at increasing difficulty each hour. We should really figure out when to stop pushing them if at all or this will take all month.

OOC: Let's push them until it will take us only four hours to finish the trip, after we give them a break. Then we'll lower the weight they have to haul by jumping most of us off (we should be able to lower the water-weight as well by having a good drink, as we're heading for an oasis, right?) Then we can march as fast as we can. They'll probably still have to roll checks to keep up with us, but not as bad DCs. We can take some of the save-burden on ourselves, as it were.

OOC: Sounds like a plan. Atroclos can carry a lot.

OOC: Well this turned out interesting.

The Krodlu keep there elevated pace going and you are making excellent time however one of the Krodlu begins to slow and look very "droopy", the beast begins to slow just as the wind starts picking up and sand begins to whirl around becoming a thick cloud limiting visibility to a few feet.

The howling wind intensifies and the flurry of sand worsens it is becoming difficult to hear. The once soft red sand of the desert suddenly seems razor sharp as it is whipped around by the wind it clings to everything hair, skin and clothing. The cloying sand tries to work its way into every opening on your body.
GM: I'll let you guys choose a course of action before I go any further. The survival days in the cart do contain "anti-sandstorm" clothing, basically goggles and a silken full body suit that ties at the wrists and ankles with a Balaclava to cover your mouth and ears with. Other than that its up to you guys. Depending on how you deal with this depends on the extent of the damage done.

You are currently half way to the oasis one Krodlu has one level of exhaustion the other has two thus moves at half speed.

Your vision is limited to 10ft.

"We must stop! We won't be able to see where we are going, and the Krodlu are too tired to walk straight!" The half-giant bellows to be heard over the wind, and reaches over more than one party member to grab for a survival pack from the back of the cart.

Chtckh'Chtckh clicks and gestures that he thinks we should find the nearest wall or gully, unload the wagon, and have the half-giant flip it over (or onto it's side if it's a cliff-wall we find). Then we take shelter under it. The Krodlu may be on their own. We can expand the space as best we can with tarps, and dig for more space once we have some shelter.

OOC: Just how domesticated are Krodlu? Are they doomed if we let them go on their own? We could try tucking the tired one in with us, but with a half-giant, it's probably going to be pretty tight for space. Of course, everyone could tell me I'm an idiot, and we'll do something else instead!

Tarsin agrees with the idea of overturning the cart for shelter if necessary. "If the crodlu can't fit so be it. It's more important that we all survive the journey. Our sponsor [I'd use his name but I forget it and it's too far back for me to look up right now] can always buy more, especially if this job is as lucrative as he says. These muls are strong. They can pull the cart."

The Krodlu would likely do fine on their own provided they can find somewhere to rest soon. Fortunately the Mul do not overhear the comment about them pulling the cart.

GM: Harash Vorden, is your patron. I see a plan forming but moving the cart would be an issue at any pace as the Krodlu are only moving at half speed(can only go as fast as the slowest guy) Which is 25ft.

There isn't really anything around to shelter against if you flipped the wagon and all started digging you may be able to dig a gully.

Kanna pulled her scarf up over her nose and mouth, closed her eyes to slits, and started shoving boxes and barrels out of the wagon into a pile on the desert sands. There was really no time for argument or debate. First they had to empty the wagon. Then they'd have to turn it over. Then they'd have to dig out a hollow under it once the wagon was giving them some shelter.

It might not be enough. The desert might still take them. It was all there was left to do though.
