Velmont> In your example a Wizard1/Sorceror1 has a better BaB than a Wizard1/Cleric1. Are you sure that's what you want?

My method ends up the same as yours, except it adds fractions.

Maybe this makes it more clear:
Code:
Level Good Med Poor Good Poor
[u] BAB BAB BAB Save Save[/u]
 1st 1.00 0.75 0.50 2.50 0.34
 2nd 2.00 1.50 1.00 3.00 0.67
 3th 3.00 2.25 1.50 3.50 1.00
 4th 4.00 3.00 2.00 4.00 1.34
 5th 5.00 3.75 2.50 4.50 1.67
 6th 6.00 4.50 3.00 5.00 2.00
 7th 7.00 5.25 3.50 5.50 2.34
 8th 8.00 6.00 4.00 6.00 2.67
 9th 9.00 6.75 4.50 6.50 3.00
10th 10.00 7.50 5.00 7.00 3.34
11th 11.00 8.25 5.50 7.50 3.67
12th 12.00 9.00 6.00 8.00 4.00
13th 13.00 9.75 6.50 8.50 4.34
14th 14.00 10.50 7.00 9.00 4.67
15th 15.00 11.25 7.50 9.50 5.00
16th 16.00 12.00 8.00 10.00 5.34
17th 17.00 12.75 8.50 10.50 5.67
18th 18.00 13.50 9.00 11.00 6.00
19th 19.00 14.25 9.50 11.50 6.34
20th 20.00 15.00 10.00 12.00 6.67

Now simply take the character levels with a good BAB and take it's value in this table. Take the character levels with a medium BAB and take it's value in this table. Take the character levels with a poor BAB and take it's value in this table. Add these together and round down. Do the same for each save.

To tell the absolute truth... I'd been considering multiclassing Jack with fighter, before taking the little sneak PrC. But if we're going to futz around with charts like this, I might have to reconsider.

If you'll be a Rogue/Fighter, the end result to your BaB won't matter, since all that happens is adding fractions, and Fighters don't have fractions. You might get a little better saving throws though.

"Reconsider" doesn't necessarily mean "won't".

As a Rog2/Ftr2, my Will save would be better by +1, that's all.

That's not the point...

The point is that, for a "Living" game that is (initially, at least) supposed to be using nothing but the SRD, I'm not certain I want to be messing around with such a fundamental change to the rules just yet. It's a fairly big change to some fairly basic rules, and it won't be entirely easy to get used to quickly.

Of course the nature of PBP games is that the games tend to move slowly, so there may be time for it. I'm just not certain we really need to do it. I'm still thinking on it.

I know, but it means you might not.

It's not really that of a big change, and you don't even need to understand it. If you don't, you just yell here: Hey, I'm a Druid7/Fighter4/Bard1/Paladin3, what are my BaB and saves?

But I agree. I don't use this rule in all my campaigns, and I'm not sure it should be used in LEW.

The probem is that we haven't "raised the bar" all around as far as a minimum level for the Campaign as of yet. It was mentioned early on that at some point, when most PCs are 5th or 6th level, we could just say that all new PCs could stat at 3rd level, for example.
With such a variance on level and the rate that games are advancing, I doubt that we will be able to comfortably do that.
Then there is the fact that some folks (a great many, I suspect) like developing characters from Level 1. I know I do, although I enjoy higher level games as well.

Hello all. I just found this forum so I am trying to catch up.

Perhaps a compromise solution? I know of people who only like playing low level characters. Conversely, some people like to skip ahead to the high level characters. I propose that three 'leagues' of play be established.

Low Level League is like what LEW has now. Everyone starts at first level and handles local threats.

Mid Level League features more advanced starting characters. Including monster PCs with ECLs. These parties handle the adventures with a regional or even national scope.

High Level League are for the true power characters in LEW. They are involved with the fate of the entire world and regularly travel to other planes.

(Technically I suppose there could be an Epic League but I don't think LEW is ready for that yet. Also, IIRC the ELH is not in the SRD.))

I think it will lend verisimilitude to the world. I just don't see a 20th level Cleric going down to the Red Dragon Inn to try and find work. He would drop by for a chat about geopolitical issues with his close personal friend, the King.

In a pure role-playing scene I think Leagues could be ignored. That way, a very eccentric Archmage could go down to the local tavern and mingle with the commoners. He might even post a note on the job board. Also, a 1st level Paladin could pay a visit to his mentors at the Fortress of Light.

What do you think, sirs?

Also, I think this forum might get more traffic if you could see it from the forum front page. I didn't even realize this existed until I found it by accident.

As for the idea of Leagues, I'm not sure. I have yet to start a PbP campaign of any kind at any level other than first, and the joy I get from watching my PCs level up and improve themselves is part of the meat of it for me. Besides, everyone in here so far has taken their lumps at 1st level, and it wouldn't be right to just plop a bunch of high-levels on top of them that they can't get a chance to surpass. JMHO, YMMV, etc., but I think it's too late for that kind of idea...

Well, it's something to think about. I wouldn't mind being listed on the main forum page, but I'm not sure how Creamsteak feels.

As for leagues, I'm generally against that, largely for the same reasons dpdx stated. Having high level characters coming in out of the blue running around and doing Big Things wouldn't be fair to the characterss starting at level 1.

I don't like the idea of leagues. Also, LEW was originally on the front page, but I had it turned into a sub forum because I'm an organization freak. I'm willing to give in if it makes sense, but more people might NOT be a great idea just yet. Although were moving, I still don't think the process is too smooth. More when I have less math homework.
