DL: Knight Orders

Eryx

First Post
With the release of Dragonlance at the end of summer, I've started running a basic DL campaign to show my current group what got me into D&D in the first place.

However, I was wondering has anyone out there made the Knightly Orders up for third edition and would be willing to share?

Thanx.

I've looked there before but was interested in seeing what anyone else had done. I'm thinking of making the classes myself but two of the Knight Orders are going to have to be follow on Prestige Classes.
Thats not a problem, just curious as to how others have handled it.

off the top of my head ...

I think Crown Knight would be a core class ...

4skp/lvl ... more skills (ala paladin?)

less bonus feats ...

1st lvl: toughness
2nd lvl: bonus feat
5th lvl: weapon spec
8th lvl: bonus feat
11th lvl: bonus feat
14th lvl: Leadership feat
17th lvl: bonus
20th lvl: bonus

code of conduct ...

Sword Knight: definite Paladin type prestige class (no special mount) ... prereq: have to be a Crown Knight of at least 1 lvl (in good standing) (the rest could be multiclass stuff?)

Rose Knight: Cavalier type prestige class ... prereq: have to be a Sword Knight of xlvl

Uhm, i was thinking to start someday a campaign in DL, but i hadn't any material ready to do so. Anyway, if u refer to the knightly orders of the first generations of heroes, i would say that
Crown Knight will be the replacement of the paladin core class (without the magic mount, perhaps open even to neutral good),
Sword Knight will be a 10 level PRC (a bunch of level as crown knight as prereq + the standard requirement of 2e to join the order), and Rose Knight a 5 level PRC, having some level in precedents order as prereq, and again follow the requirements in 2e to join the order).

The problem is, in 2e Crown Knight didn't cast, and Sword Knights prayed for "miracles" (my personal way to address divine spells) each week. That could not be so easy in 3e way of thinkin...
Perhaps, banning spells at Crown Knight (more feats than a paladin, no spells, but can turn undead and lay on hands), anf givin' a good progression for Sword Knight and a +1 of casting level for Rose knight could be balanced. I hope that this brainstormin could help.

As a possible guideline for replacing spells granted, AEG's Rokugan supplement removes spellcasting ability from rangers, but grants rangers a bonus feat at every level at which a ranger would normally get a new spell level.

Order of the Knight (1 of 3)

Well done ruleslawyer (even if it's not something truly yours it helped us to make sense to our ideas). So we can say:

Crown Knight (core class)
hit dice d10
Bab as fighter
saves as paladin
requisites standard 2e DL, must be L or N Good
Class skills as paladin
Skill points 2 + Int x lvl

1st level Detect dragonarmies (instead of detect evil, same effects as per the spell), divine grace, lay on hands, divine health
2nd level Aura of courage, mounted combat: only dragons
3rd level Turn Undead, smite dragonarmies and draconics*
4th level Bonus feat**
5th level Exotic weapon proficency: dragonlance
6th level smite dragonarmies and draconics 2/day
...
8th level Bonus feat**
9th level smite dragonarmies and draconics 3/day
...
11th level Bonus feat**
12th level smite dragonarmies and draconics 4/day
...
14th level Bonus feat**
15th level smite dragonarmies and draconics 5/day
...
18th level smite dragonarmies and draconics 6/day
...

*as smite evil but effective on dragonarmies soldiers and any type of draconic

** taken from the fighter list (plus some cleric ones?)?

...of course, when the first order will be ok, we can examine the second and finally the third one. Any help and or suggestions will be appreciated.
