Because it is basically just a bomb.

Contrast it with Flaming Sphere, where you create ball of fire, and then mentally control it to move around the room. That spell actually feels magical.

Okay, so creating a Bomb from nothing that you then accurately fling a pretty good distance away from you doesn't feel magical?

K. But whether a mechanic is dissociative doesn't depend on whether you find that they create a disconnect for you. Unless we want to redefine dissociative to "any mechanic that cbwjm finds a disconnect with".

I also want to encourage you on that X attacks for some effect mechanic because it sounds pretty cool.
What I like about the general concept is the boost it can give fighters for things to do. Some might cost 1 or 2 attacks so almost anyone can do them it but if it takes 3 attacks then it will be firmly in the realm of the the 11+ fighter only.
