I must be an exception, then. There are a lot of details that seem fun to read about on the boards and Wizards site, but actually playing in the world, it felt pretty incoherent and lacking in any real motivation, and the adventures (Forgotten Forge and Queen with the Burning Eyes) were just one stupid thing after another.

I certainly agree that there are a number of weak adventures for it. But the game itself, I think, inspires much better adventures, and a wider range of gaming styles than these adventures suggest.

Our Eberron game is jointly DMed. We, the DMs, take it in turns to run adventures. So far we've only run one set adventure, which I played in so I couldn't tell you its name. It was one about murders in the Warforged community in the Cogs that was found in a Dungeon magazine. It was more than excellent.

So far the part have explored the upper reaches of sharn, discovered ancient warforged artefacts in the ruins of the giant civilisation of Xendrik, been exploring in Droaam and rural breland, and even defeated the nasty Lich in the Sharn graveyards.

We've got the characters to level 10 without having to travel very far for a number of very different adventures. I'm sure we could keep going through many epic levels before we ran out of ideas for adventures that come from the richness of the setting.

Cheerio,

No, I have not played in Eberron. But your choices only allow for those who particularly want to or don't want to. I'n neutral. The setting would not be a positive or negative motivator for me. I'd me more concerned with who was runnign the game and who the other players were.

"No and I have no desire to"

But that's mainly because I haven't really looked at it in great detail - I have my own homebrew which I'm enjoying and haven't really given Eberron a chance. Maybe one day I'll take a serious look at it.

Eh, it's another setting. I can't say that there is anything about it that has really grabbed my imagination. No better no worse than any other. I think like most settings it comes down to the DM. A good DM can make "Orc and Pie" mesmerizing and a bad one can ruin LotR.

I've read very little if any of the online stuff on Eberron, though. There is a particular feel to Eberron, so it can't be for everyone.

I am working on my own campaign setting and bougth the Eberron book on a whim the other day. Thought that it would give me ideas for my own setting. It looks like a pretty good reference book. Nice layout, good extra rules, detailed maps and descriptions of lands. Looks like a good setting and I would like to *play* in it, as a player. However, as a DM, I am looking for a "low magic" campaign setting with a more 'medievel' feel to it. Eberron is high magic, with magic literally oozing everywhere (re: living spells :p hehe) and a true fantasy setting.

I'm of the no and no desire to play it. But if my group wanted to play, I'd play along with them. But it is not something I would suggest. Too many other great and IMO better setting out there to try.

That being said, I'm currently in a Forgotten Relams game, another setting I really had no desire to play. So, it could happen.
My feelings exactly. I think the DM needs to be pretty good for me to enjoy the settign though. I like action points and some of the other things in the setting, but these can be added to a lot of games.
