Mearls: agreed.

Thresher: I actually like that focus on 'crunch' for the MT; I hope that more PrC's are done like that.

It's easy enough to add flavor for my campaign; it's a lot harder to convine to a player that just because a behavior is included in the official fluff for a PrC doesn't mean that's how it will work in my game.

Less fluff = less assumption about how PrC should act/behave = easier time for GM. IMHO. :)

I have a big problem with this class.

I also have this problem with 90% of the +1 Spells Per Day Prestige Classes.

Wizards DON'T give up enough, and Sorcerors give up nearly nothing.

I don't know, I'd just like to see some good justification...

I need to change my vote - for mildly overpowered to weak or just right. I got suckered looking at the massive number of spells to realize the sucker punch in power.

I think I kinda like it.

Charwoman: Sorcerors give up 3 levels of being a sorceror. You have to remember that, or it just looks like a gimme.

My instincts say that <20th level play they should be okay. However, it's those spell combinations that you would never normally try and put together that could break it. I look forward to people's efforts on this part. ;)

At 20th level and beyond however... clearly FUBAR. A Clr3/Wiz7/MT10 now gaing Epic levels in MT, Epic Spellcasting...

Insane.

Akoss - how's epic spellcasting going to change much? They'll get some extra utility out of multispell etc, but since actual epic spells are totally seperated from the normal spellcasting mechanic, they won't get too much in that arena.

I can't say for sure without having played it, but it seems pretty overpowered to me. As a wizard, you give up two feats and two levels of spells over time plus your familiar abilities (which don't count for squat in my book) to gain the spellcasting ability of a 13th level cleric. That seems pretty rediculous, but you never know, it may play very differently.

Saeviomagy, don't forget the prerequisites to cast Epic Spells - primarily being able to cast 9th level spells.

So in essence you lose nothing over being a regular wizard as you're both able to get into Epic Spellcasting at 21st level. But the MT allows you to cast the spells of a 14th level cleric (using my example) in addition. The limitations that balanced the class out slightly at under 20th level (not having the equivalent spell level access as a single-class SpC) vanish entirely at epic levels and you become... the UberCaster! :D

Sheesh. And as a cleric, you give up BAB, armored casting, undead turning, good Fort save, good hit points.

Compared to a wizard, the class may seem powerful. Compared to a cleric, it's trully weak. Yet all classes are supposed to be balanced. Explain.

You'll be happy to be able to cast lots of 5th level spell when you'll meet a rakshasa.
