1. I punish a die that keeps rolling poor. The important part here is that the other dice can "see" the punishment: "So here's what you get for being bad dice - you're flushed down the toilet!"
This never did me any good (as was to be expected). In no way am I serious about it - it's just done for entertainment value. And I only did it four or five times in 15 years.
2. When rolling a 1 on a d6 (especially when playing Blood Bowl), I switch to a different die. That's not really superstition... I just tend to not roll the dice properly when in a hurry, so the top-most number simply shows up again almost as often as not. Still, some people I'm gaming with think it is superstition.

I play with 5 or 6 d20s, and I rotate them out. When one fails me, it goes to the back of the line in shame for all the other dice to see. Seems to work for me

If I roll low (1's or 2's - 5 or less on a d20) several times in a row that dice is going back into the bag till next session.

I also have two sets that I feel roll higher than some of my other sets, so those two sets see more play than the others in my dice bag.

For a while, all my d20s seemed to roll poorly, so I started 'punishing' the poor rollers by placing them in my shoe as an example to others (no, me feet don't smell particularly bad).

More recently, it occured to me that my d20s may be jealous, so now I only keep 1 20-sider out at a time.

Mind you, I do this in a very open manner, humorous manner such as loudly announcing "Into the shoe with you!" after several very bad rolls in a row. I would say it is about half playing around, but it does seem to have improved my rolls, or at least my perception of them. :o

*shrug*

Yes, as follows...

"Dice I Touch Suddenly will not roll wort :):):):)".

Though I don't think you can call it a "superstition" when it has been empirically proven over a 15-year period :)

The color and composition of the dice-set (and I always prefer sets over single dice) must reflect, in some fashion, the character I am playing, or must only be used for that character. Dice have a sense of aesthetics for such things; my warmain only uses pewter or other shiny metal dice. I picked this up while playing a super-shiny sohei and using pewter dice. My luck with that character was... really quite scary. My luck with the warmain has been better-than-average.

I have definitely seen people go on a massive streak of bad luck. The offending d20 in at least two cases found itself flying into the woods at high speed.

Recently, I have been well-nigh unable to miss when I am GMing. My dice forget how to roll below a 15. My players hate this.

I've also calculated the odds against rolling five 1's in a row, which happened to a friend of mine in a scene in which he was grossly outnumbered and could hit on 2 or better. He was famed, far and wide, for his abysmal luck.

There is nothing that will bring on bad luck faster than using a once per day ability, like a 3.0 paladin's Smite Evil, or a zenythri's (MM2) true strike.

I personally have a couple (No One But ME Touches The Magic Dice)

But it is one of my players who has the most...

She is a stonehand thrower. If there is a chance to screw up a roll in a game, in almost any system, she will do it at least once a game. Blow the top off with a great roll? That only happens to other players.

So, believing that her dice were cursed, she actually took them to be ritually blessed, first by Wiccans, then by a Catholic priest.

Now she absolutely refuses to roll any dice (or even touch them) without first putting on a pair of motorcycle gloves.

It's gettin' a little weird at the table that way... :uhoh:
