I don't care what your times worth, but i'm willing to pay what I think your art's worth. It's your job to make the two match as closely as possible. Thats entreprenureship!
My job is making art for people who pay me what I charge, not dipping to ridiculously low prices because they won't pay otherwise.

i personally got doc to work on a trade, which is so frequently the best method for such things :)

now...if i can just tempt a few others.......

I'd just like to say that Dr Midnight's art is awesome, and its a damn fine bargain at $50 a character. A measly fifty bucks for a fantastic pic of a character that you could potentialy be playing for years? I'm sure most of us have blown that much dough on rpg books we will almost never use.

Nope, some of us review the books in depth before purchase, that way we never waste a dollar buying crappy books we never use. But thats a whole 'nother flame war :p

Hmm....

Hmmm, thinks the baker.

Hey, Doc, whaddya think about caffeine cookies?

Sadly, that can't really be a serious offer. I'd have to bake you a buttload of my patented cookies -- Seattle Communion Wafers, I call 'em, and truly people have told me they bring about a spiritual experience -- to make it worth your while, I'm sure. If I lived in Boston, I'd offer you one of my cheesecakes, which I'd value around $70 -- ingredients alone is about $20 -- but I somehow don't think they'd ship well.

Wonderful art, and if I had more disposable income, I'd pay your prices in a heartbeat; as it is, I pretty much can't afford to buy art these days.

I'll have to second Pielorhino's comments. If I weren't scrimping for Gencon (which $50 can buy most of a hotel room for a night) I would have commissioned you for one of my most beloved (and alas currently unplayed) halfling rogues...

...But I just may give you a call after July, if you are still in the business of doing character portraits then.

Your artwork is fan-freakin'-tastic; but then I doubt I have to tell you.

Doc, I would love some of your work! However I'm in a financial slump at the moment, but things will look up in March. And I was wondering how long the offer stands at (IMO, incredibly cheap*) 50$ and if long enough, do you accept direct money transfer ?

(*I have art books I've paid more than 500$ for, so anyone complaining it is expensive, can come by my house for 50$ worth of whoopass)

Well, I have spent over $50 on really good, well-reviewed rpg books. While they were good reads, they don't see much use in game. But, like you said, thats a topic for another thread :)

A portrait of your character is bit of a luxury, but if you have $50 of disposable income and you are really into your character, its a cool thing to have. When another player asks "So what does your character look like?", you can just go "BAM" and slap a printout of your character on the table. :)
