Doc Midnight's STILL cutting Character Illustration commission prices in HAAAALF!

I almost did, but-

long story, abridged:
1. I make picture, upload
2. I lose FTP access to site
3. I discover my monitor was set oddly, and as a result, things I'd colored at the time (including Norman) WAY WAY too dark.
4. Norman is now fixed, but cannot upload.

And there we have it, you are now up-to-date and bored.

Supply and Demand... People will pay $50 and over so the people who want to pay $20 aren't getting there characters done.

Yep. When Doc drops his price more people are going to want to buy it, which means he's going to get more business, but if he loses money on each sale because of the reduced price it isn't going to work.

Art is worth what people are willing to pay for it. If that doesn't cover your costs (which would include rent, food, clothing, etc.) then you'll have to find another source of income.

Everyone I know just oozes gooey love over it, even in MY story hour thread (dirty bastards).

Guilty as charged.:o

We have to do something when you pull us a cliffhanger. We can't always send Wee Jas to annoy you. ;)

I'm thinking on three different characters, all from the same campaign.

I'm trying to decide if I want three seperate pics or one big one. Any recomendations?

I still need to get the descriptions from the other players first anyway.

I paid the cash.. damn this thread! My character in another campaign with his green dragon cohort. Introducing Ikaht the All Knowing!

Thanks Doc!

A portrait of your character is bit of a luxury

A bit ? Just a bit ?

I'm among the mass of gamer who eats merely pastas for two months when they want to buy a RPG product, and I'm also among the mass of gamer who'd really love to have a DM that continues his bloody campaign rather than stop it and begin another. Regardless of whether the $50 are justified or not (that's a problem for the service provider, not for the customer), expending so much money for something that'll be useless once it's finished because the "campaign" will be over at this time is just a waste.

Ah well. If I were rich, I have a crowd of characters I'd love to get a picture of. I ain't, so I stick with photoshopping to death portraits coming from Neverwinter Nights or another Bioware game. (Portraits from the PC portrait feature over on wizards.com are really ugly, the only who're somewhat right are the sketchy OA ones).

(Oh, and in the Arts milieu, price depends neither on time nor on quality, they depends solely on hype and recognition... The best artists are very rarely those with the highest prices, and the most expensive "oeuvre d'arts" are not necessarily those that have taken the most time and skill.)

He makes a good point.

I can't tell you how stunned I was to find out that someone paid 50K for a canvis with a ferken line across the middle!

Just a line. That was it. I think it got a bit thicker in the middle.

Bet Doc can't do that.

A museum in Paris recently bought for several millions of ?uros two "artistic objects". The first is two palmtree (real palmtrees, in pot) with a living parrot on a perch. The second is two palmtrees and a dead, straw-stuffed parrot on a perch.

The artist's art is crookery.

The only problem I'm having with Doc is that I'm dying of anticipation :). I have the odd "night before Christmas" excitement I used to have as a kid, weird I know...
