Dr Midnight, just wanted to throw my support out for your prices, whether it's $50 or $100. I can't afford it, but that's because I'm poor, not because your stuff isn't worth it.

Doc, Great work.

1) How much would you charge for 3 colored characters? Two humans and a dwarf.

2) Do you accept money orders?

3) How long does it usually take you?

Thx

Raz

as an artist, who knows mostly artists, who spends his time with artists, i can tell you that you are terribly wrong.

As a consumer, who knows mostly consumers, who spends his time with consumers, i can tell you that you are terribly blinded by your clique.

We don't walk by a piece of art and look for the "Dr. Midnight spend X hours on this!" sticker. All I care about is what it makes me feel and how it's going to look between the couch and drapes, and judge its value to me based on that.

When I buy a car I don't ask how many hours it took to build.

When I buy a shirt I don't look for the label saying how many hours some indonesian kid spend sewing it.

Anyway I can tell you your crusade to make me value your time, as opposed to what you actually produce, will be ineffective. Why not drop it so Dr. Midnight can get on with pimping his, quite nice in fact, gamer art? 2 characters for $75

1) $130

2) Suuuure, why not.

3) Several hours per.

Roland- If I could just stare at the paper and make the art appear within five seconds, I'd charge a buck each. The time and effort involved are what make the price. I know what my time's worth, and it's not $20.

Duh. You're the one who brought up the time the artist puts in, as if that means anything to ME. It doesn't. Getting the job done in a decent time is the artists problem, not mine.

Dr. Midnight: I don't care what your times worth, but i'm willing to pay what I think your art's worth. It's your job to make the two match as closely as possible. Thats entreprenureship!

BTW I'd pay a lot to see you make art appear by staring at paper. That act could get you millions in vegas :D

Just to throw in my two cents...

My husband, Xaltar, comissioned Doc to draw my half-drow cleric and her pseudodragon, and I must say that I could not have been happier with the way she turned out. Xaltar paid more than $50 for the drawing, and I should say that $50 is well worth Doc's time and talent.

'Nuff Said! :D
