I wonder if something isn't wrong with those stats. I think AC = Ref + armour, in that case, unless a creature has negative armour, you can't get Ref lower than AC

In terms of how it is possible, a character wearing normal chain mail with no shileld has an ac of 15. If that character has a good dex and a good neck slot item (or other effect that boosts his defences without boosting his ac) he could easily have a higher reflex defence then ac.

AC is Armor + 10 + 1/2 level + any other relative modifiers (Dex modifier; miscellaneous modifiers, perhaps Fighter or other class features) for players. Monsters don't have a hard rule in place for defenses.

Actually, in our current Dnd 3.5e campaign, my 14th level cleric/prc character has 22 ac and 18 fort save... Next level he gets cha to saves, and another +1 from level, which makes it an even 22 in fort save and ac. :P

If you're wearing heavy armour, that is certainly not true (since Dex/Int doesn't modify your AC then).

I think, as a general rule, AC is not Ref + armour.

If it is, then rogues get an innate +2 to AC just because of their bonus to reflex defense. Not too shabby for a class that is NOT a defender.

On the other hand, you get the absurdity that some things are easier to hit and hurt then they are to touch if you don't have AC scale with reflex defense.

It's pretty safe to assume that every two levels, you get an additional +1 to all defenses (AC, Fort, Reflex, Will) as in SW Saga.

I like the hole... multiple attacks a round.

But also, Armor Class is not the same as Reflex Defense. Just because they're both 1d20+x versus y doesn't mean that if X = X the two have exactly the same proficiency and shoot the weapon the same way. A Reflex attack and an Armor one having the same bonus doesn't mean that they're exactly the same swing/shot.

Although for 4e no blows really land until the killing blow. Hits are just misses that wind you.

Must you?

At least if you are going to bitch whine and troll a thread, do it accurately?

That is one (poor, ime) possible view of the abstration of hit points.

The other, more common acceptance, ime, is the acknowledgement that the only hit that does real damage is the one that drops you.
