The DMG says to do it your way. To not rely on calculations. To trust your feelings so to speak. To let go.

It appears to me that, while they've retained the language about "doing it your way" (and that's commendable), they have removed examples of ways to do it, and have made very clear, more so than ever before, what their way and their expectations are.

In a way, I'm actually proud of them for taking a step toward taking a stand. Just like 4e.

If that's the case... then they shouldn't be surprised that people respond to them, or get annoyed that people disagree with their vents.

Why not? They're already annoyed about the situation or they wouldn't be venting; disagreeing with those is not liable to make them feel more positive to the response (surprise about a response is weird in any case, but being grumpy about the response is not).

No one HAS to vent here. And no one HAS to respond back to people that comment about their vents. But that's part of the game that is posting on a message board. If (general) you don't want response... don't make your posts open-ended or don't bother responding back. Make your vent and then get out while the gettings good.

Good luck with that. I still think you don't understand the nature of venting.

I do. Around here people want to vent on things but not get challenged on whatever silly thing they are venting on. And it doesn't happen cause people know that's a ridiculous ask. :D

So you're venting about it? :)
Of course! But I'm also not doing so expecting anything to change, LOL! I know my posts fall on deaf ears, that's why I don't get so bent out of shape about any of this stuff regarding the boards OR the D&D game. ;)

They fall on ears that ask you to please stop.

I'll stop when everyone else does too.

That's the deal. People stop constantly complaining that WotC hasn't made the exact D&D game they themselves individually want and that the designers are greedy and stupid jerks for not doing so, and I'll stop commenting on why it isn't WotC job or capability to give them the ridiculous and esoteric system they want and that the person could easily solve their own problems on their own without WotC or anyone else's help.
