Doing my part for the hobby

francisca

I got dice older than you.
I feel kinda cool right now. One of the players in my homebrew just left my office, taking with him my 3.5 screen, DragonMats, some ref sheets, and an assortment of Firery Dragon counters from CC I & II (go Klaus!).

He borrowed these things because tonight, he is going to DM for the first time, for his roomates. He's really looking forward to it, and I think appreciates what I do as a DM a little more. He will still be playing in my homebrew, and I look forward to hearing how it went.

So, I'm feeling all mentor-ish right now, and have a small sense of pride for having played a small part in growing the hobby a wee bit. :)

Of course, this means we have another DM in the group, and I'll need to start tweaking the monsters a little more. ;)

So, everyone, what small things have you done to help the hobby we all know and love?

One of the players in my current group hadn't played D&D or any RPG for years before picking it back up a few months ago with us. Just recently he started DMing for a group of his friends, and I had a little chat with him before-hand...I felt very much the same way you do.

[sniff] The birth of a new DM...

i post on message boards, newsgroups, bulletin boards at hobby shops, and visit conventions.

i tell the world about the One True Game.

Original D&D(1974) :D

Absolutely nothing. I'm a consumer of the RPG industry's products, pure and simple.
Nothing wrong with that.

BTW, the point of this thread wasn't to play "Uncle Sam" and guilt you into doing things to build the hobby. I was just wondering if/what others do to help it grow.
